SM debuted f(x) two years after SNSD but the former had a different image and sound from the latter. Between this and the last video of the three members dancing this is just looking Itzy 2.0 though….
Yeah exactly, like even Itzy coming after Twice which came after Miss A, that made sense! f(x) was way different from GG and Red Velvet had a very different concept from f(x). It's just kind of weird timing and unless they really stand out they're going to flop imo.
she's got a nice voice, especially for a 17 year old. i know there wasn't anything explicitly inappropriate in this video but, coupled with the choreo, i feel a little wary about what sort of style they're going to go with
Itzy's debut styling was also a bit not good in certain aspects, so we can probably expect a repeat of that. And by their second round of promotions we'll probably have all forgotten about their ages and just assume its all good tbh
That’s probably why I have a bias toward JYPE groups. Are they going to be the best singers? …..No. lol. But are they going to perform? YES. They have the best stage presence out of the big 3 at least gen 3 onwards. But with each gen they always had stage presence and so much fun to watch them perform.
A lot of second and third gen girl groups are lacking in stage presence imo, Aespa and CLC (which I believe was their actual downfall, not just mismanagement) just to name a few. It's definitely a pattern I've noticed.
i like aespa too :( LMAO but i mean.... stage presence and dance wise they have NOTHING on itzy tbh it's such a shame that visuals play such a huge part which is crazy to say bc to me the itzy girls are insanely beautiful but aespa fit a more conventional beauty standard for sure.
I mean I don't hate them or anything, the music and acting business is very image-focused so I don't blame them specifically!! I do think the Itzy girls are beautiful as well and will probably have a long career.
I just think Aespa is just... bland and not very good at pretty much anything they do, and the constant excuses from their stans are tiring lmao. Like "they're just mismanaged" - they've got the biggest kpop company in the world pumping oodles of money into their comebacks so not really. "they're forced into girl crush concepts when they should be doing bright concepts which is why they look dead and expressionless in their comebacks!" - then they shouldn't be performers lmao like if you can literally only do one thing then you shouldn't be a performer, certainly not at one of the top companies in the country, you need to be versatile as a performer. "they only had one year of training!" again, that's not true either, they all come from rich parents and i find it highly unlikely that they weren't taking music/dance lessons before they were with SM
i actually agree with pretty much everything you said. especially the part about their parents having money. it reminds me of a post i read on here that pointed out that most 4th gen groups have idols who come from wealthy families and that was apparently not the norm with 3rd and 2nd gen idols. i think that combined with sm’s pr training, it makes sense why aespa are so boring :/ the only member that has any charisma is ningning (and its mostly offstage) giselle honestly looks like a kpop fan more than an actual idol, she just has no stage presence whatsoever, which sucks bc like u said this is supposed to be one of THE top company in the industry. (sorry for the poor grammar i mostly comment on my phone) it’s like they only cared about visuals when it came to aespa. but yeah, i like them they’re cute and i like the music, new level is so bad it goes back to good for me LOL but i don’t blame ppl who think they’re boring, sm were definitely.... uninspired when they put the group and their concept together
I'm glad you get what I'm saying! Like I said I don't hate them or anything, I just think it's sad that this is the state of a lot of new groups these days... they have zero personality onstage and tend to not be very interesting. I'm just so disappointed at what Aespa turned out to be. Hopefully they'll get better but I doubt it tbh.
Everything I said about Aespa in my previous comment, I also feel about CLC lmao oops but then stans are SO CONVINCED that they could have been the next 4minute or Red Velvet "if they had just been managed better"... no, not really, they weren't very good! Sorry!!
she's the one everyones gonna stan if these teasers are any indication on the groups concept then i'm not seeing any difference between this group and itzy. these girls are too young anyway i don't see why they can't wait just 2 more years before debuting another group.
The girl has the confidence and she can sing and dance. if the new group performs songs more like Miss A, then I will probably like them. I think the Itzy girls have plenty of charisma, but their songs just aren't my cup of tea.
I get it, I really like Itzy’s girls and think they’re charming and great performers. But I see how little of their discography I have saved from them, as I like most of their titles but don’t fall hard for them. Their b-sides are not really doing it for me currently.
I definitely like them but if I was asked whose discography are my top favorites ITZY doesn’t really qualify.
I don't have any of their songs on my playlist, but I have been playing Twice a lot recently. Seriously why was Love Foolish not a title track, it's soooo good. And I can go back to Miss A songs at anytime and still think they are great.
Twice has come a long way with their b-sides, they’re fantastic in the last couple years! That’s what I’m hoping will happen with Itzy too, I want a b-side to really draw me in but it hasn’t happened yet
I have so many songs in my library, as long as Spotify lets me save it and I haven’t run out of room yet I will 😅 but luckily I have smaller more specific ones that are easier to navigate
Edit: Also Miss A’s discography is short but oh so sweet, they had great titles and b-sides!
I’m still hesitant what the direction this group is going. Miss A worked since 3 of the 4 girls were adults, if they were all young like Suzy it wouldn’t work as well imo. If these girls have a Miss A concept with most of them being high school age, idk that sounds off putting
