Jeongyeon Is Taking A Break From TWICE To Take Care Of Her Health

TWICE's Jeongyeon will be absent for the future activities of the group
She went on hiatus in last October after dealing with anxiety and recovering from an injury and made her comeback on stage at the SMA 2021 at the end of January this year. Since then, she participated in the group's 10th mini album "Taste Of Love" and their third Japanese album "Perfect World".

We would like to inform you about TWICE member Jeongyeon’s current health situation.

Jeongyeon is currently experiencing panic and psychological anxiety.
Although Jeongyeon was moving forward with her schedule by simultaneously taking action for recovery, we value our artists’ health as the most important issue.Therefore, after deep discussions internally accompanied by professional medical measures, we have decided that it is needed for Jeongyeon to have sufficient time to focus on her recovery and rest.

After discussions with Jeongyeon herself and other TWICE members, we inform you that Jeongyeon will be unable to attend TWICE's activity for a while in future schedule.

As the artist label, we will provide the best procedures for Jeongyeon to recover with sufficient amount time.

We may see her in the MV for their English release "The Feels" but it seems she won't be on stage until at least the end of year awards shows. Next year, the group's contract with JYP will come to an end.

Nayeon said awhile ago that the promotions for the English single are gonna be “big” so I can definitely see Jeong coming to the conclusion that she may not be able to handle all of it since she was already on a schedule by schedule basis through Alcohol Free promos. I’m glad that her well-being is being prioritized. I’m also sad that she felt the need to apologize on Bubble.

The ‘big’ part kinda scares me tbh. I really hope they studied or looked at what’s doing well in the US. I’m all for Twice bringing their style but with the prom theme I’m worried it will have a childish vibe like some of their earlier songs (I love them but I can admit it lol). Idk I hope they really thought this through, because if it doesn’t do well they’re going to get a lot of grief.

This is just frustrating at this point. Like if your top idols are struggling with mental health so much they need to keep taking breaks from activities, maybe stop overworking them so fucking much. And, excuse my internet armchair psychology degree, this keeps happening specifically after physical injuries so clearly they’re returning before they’re ready and shit hits the fan.

I mean those girls were performing Can’t Stop Me/Cry for Me into Jan, had two Japanese releases, Taste of Love and an English single soon. And a few solo projects as well. And knowing their schedules they’ll have another Korean cb before the year ends. I know other things factor in, but no wonder some of them are struggling. The sheer exhaustion must be insane.

I’ve never understood why JYP keeps having them promote all the time. I’ve heard that they’re not as busy with JP comebacks just bc they aren’t to the scale that Korean ones are, but they aren’t some nugu group that needs to comeback 2+ times a year just to stay afloat. Someone else mentioned on another Twice article that they think JYP may be trying to milk them before their contracts end next year.

You’re half right. The thing about Twice’s schedules is that they film/prepare a whole bunch of stuff months in advance and then release an avalanche of content once they have a comeback. The pandemic has freed up their plates since they haven’t been touring but they still did a number of performances of their titles (Alcohol Free on music shows, studio choom etc and special performances for Perfect World). There’s also fancall events and such which I bet are more draining than they appear to be.

As I said above, Jeongyeon was on a “may join this schedule, may not join the next” type system throughout Alcohol Free promotions and she was in some of the Perfect World performances. So she may have stepped back and realized it wasn’t working.

She posted on Bubble that she’ll rest well and come back, so that was reassuring to hear. She’s also been posting about her baking and other hobbies recently so I’m sure she’s using this time to really heal. I just want the best for her.

Good.Watching her throughout AF promos was awful, you could tell she was in pain and clearly self-concious about her weight gain. Twice's schedule is not sustainable for someone with her injuries
