The chart includes Gaon sales of new albums released this year and previous albums from their discography that also sold this year. It’s missing some smaller groups but has an overall impression on how it’s looking for girl group sales this year.

Im always proud of Twice but especially Dreamcatcher, they have come such a long way! To see they’re one of the top selling girl groups now when they’re still pretty unknown to the public is just wow 🤯 lol. The power of dedicated fans haha, even if the gen public never catches on the intl kpop community definitely recognizes them.

I really hope their company puts their older albums into reprint, but idk how easy that is :( I’d love to own the older albums so much, but they’re incredibly difficult to find now. Their sales would boost even more since there’s a lot of us who missed out.

It is really cool seeing that Taste of Love sold over 500k on Gaon so the remainder is all older albums!

I’ve noticed that digital doesnt always guarantee physical success (and the opposite rings true for physical doesn’t mean digital success looking at DC and Loona lol)

Heize is a digital chart darling but her album didn’t sell much, same with Taeyeon (still impressive numbers for a soloist but you’d think she’d sell more). It’s interesting to see who people like to tune into new releases but that’s it, they’re not interested in buying. Joy’s song did much better digitally so maybe general public favors her more but just to casually listen, not enough to buy albums. The loyalty is more Wendy’s side as RV fans came out to support her album more but she didn’t stay on the top 100 long.

Also it didn’t seem like intl kpop fans cared about Joy’s release because they were 2000s cover songs, maybe if she had a more sexier concept intl fans would’ve been more into it? Though I know they aren’t into ballads either like Wendy so I’m not sure on that one haha.

wow WJSN, doing well for the subunit (which has like the popular members also). the combined WJSN sales are pretty encouraging, though I expected them to sell more for Unnatural (but could also be lack of fansigns).

I also forgot Chungha released something this year. I wonder what she's doing since Bvndit aren't coming back anytime soon

the numbers for dc and f9 are definitely higher than i would have expected, its great to see! sad that sejeongs sales seem low :( the mini she released in march was a highlight of the year musically for me it deserved to make a bigger impact.

I’m so proud of her :) I think she’s done well with her youtube appearances and the city pop community to build a name for herself. Idk if she’ll ever be a huge artist but I hope this is a sign that she has a fanbase and she can definitely keep growing
