A Los Angeles-based woman has come forward to allege she was (TW) drugged and r*ped by Chinese-Canadian star Kris Wu, who was arrested last week in Beijing on r*pe charges.

More than 24 women in China have since come forward with similar stories of being plied with alcohol and then pressured to have sex with, or were sexually assaulted by, the 30-year-old.

The latest accusation, however, means that Wu could face criminal charges and civil lawsuits in the United States as well.

The woman said she had gone to one of Wu's now-notorious drinking parties where her phone was confiscated. She claimed that small white pills were being passed around and that she had lost consciousness before being sexually assaulted.

After the incident, she said she was too afraid of being victim-shamed to speak up. She also felt she had no hard evidence and was worried about being accused of extortion.

The American law firm representing her urged other alleged victims to come forward, as Wu had been to Los Angeles many times in the past for promotional events.

I think of this case of pinnacle of toxic fan culture too, after reading that his super fans participated in procuring young girls for him, and how those celebs have army of people cleaning after them and hiding skeletons in the closets for them.

There was a admin in one of his fan club that would scout for beautiful members and set them up with him. The account was deleted a few weeks after Di Meizhu exposed his ass. I truly hope the person gets arrested too.

As if this wasn't already bad enough, the youngest alleged victim is 12. TWELVE!
He's not just a serial rapist, he's a disgusting pedophile. He's fucking vile, seriously.

Even if that child victim isn't confirmed in the end... off with his head, off with his balls.

Also, I can't at the fact that it was his own mother who brought police attention to this, because of the fraud thing.
Which turned out to be a third person and not miss Du as they had initially thought. Talk about shooting your own foot.

I hope the victims get their closer and the justice they deserve.

I have a question as I am not familiar with the Chinese justice system. Is it true that the death penalty can be requested/given in this case, as he assaulted minors? I've also heard that, as he is already in the police custody, it means they have evidence against him, otherwise they wouldn't do it.

Can someone confirm this to me please? I want to keep up with this case until the very end

If he has indeed raped someone younger than 14 (age of sexual consent in China), then technically yes.
What speaks further against him is the alleged use of drugging and alcohol to render the girls unconscious.
Taking their phones and separating them from others also doesn't help but can be explained by his idol status.
What helps his case might be that there (so far) aren't any reports of physical harm, i.e. beating, strangling, etc.

And yes, he's been detained for several days now because of the evidence + the risk of him leaving the country.

Personally, I don't think he'll be faced with the death penalty. However, even if only half is true, he's never coming back.
He's gonna rot up in jail for a long time and will never be able to work again. China has already erased his existence online.

"He won't even have access to his money anymore."

Why is that?

Date: 2021-08-08 09:38 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] happypurinsu.livejournal.com
The Chinese authorities have frozen his money assets, so he won't be able to use them.
The reason is to prevent him from bribing people and then escaping. That's what they claim.
But really, the authorities are just taking them in a backhanded way. They do this a lot, actually.

Not just his fan accounts but pretty much any mention of him has been wiped.
His profile on various websites (think, kinda like Wiki pages and IMDb) are long gone.
I'm guessing you might still find articles - we're still getting news after all - but that's it really.
There are no limitations for the Chinese government, just look at how it went with Fan Bingbing.

I was afraid of that, but I think they will use him as an example for the rich because when you enter weibo the frist thing you see is the article about him being detained. And they deleted all the weibo posts because fans keep spreading false information in the comments. They even deleted wechat private groups to stop fans.

People keep mentioning Fan BingBing but she has comeback in relative limelight, not working in the movie but having online beauty shop and working with streamers breaking sales records.
Recently Chinese government disappeared Jack Ma one of the wealthiest men, and they went on the offence against mega corp. like Alibaba

FBB's offence was "only" tax-related though, and yet she's still not allowed to appear in front of the general public, i.e. cinema and tv, although it's already been a few years - I named her example in comparison to Kris, who's now more likely than not getting completely eradicated from the Chinese internet & entertainment world. Jack Ma is because he got too rich & influential and wouldn't adhere to their demands.

She isn't blacklisted, she still make public appearances at events, mostly beauty related because she had beauty brand now, she has official Insta where she regulary post.. Her movie career stalled that's true, but if we want to talk about blacklisting celebrities it would be Zheng Shuang who was officially expelled from industry just like Kris now after her surrogacy scandal.

From: [identity profile] happypurinsu.livejournal.com
I again refer back to my point of how much control the Chinese authorities have, that even a top actress like FBB who only did tax evasion and yet still isn't allowed back on TV or cinema - she may not be officially blacklisted completely, but don't pretend that the authorities aren't still seriously restricting her *whole* career - and comparing that to Kris, both his status and crimes, the outcome for him means he will never be able to come back.

Date: 2021-08-09 04:39 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] tungatunga.livejournal.com
Tax evasion is legitmate crime though, not only in China, and people serve jail time for it. Yes, she was made example of, but in Chinese chaotic movie/tv market it's very hard to come back after any scandal, and projects got shelved for years without clear reason. And Wesley Snipes career took hit after his tax evasion scandal too.
Her case was very public and publicized worldwide, but comparing to "Me Too" activists who are jailed for months without charges and access to lawyers, and other celebs like Zheng Shuang and Kris, who both had their and their family assests frozen, she got off relativly easy.

From: [identity profile] happypurinsu.livejournal.com
I never said it wasn't a legitimate crime that doesn't deserve punishment, but you seem to keep missing the point of my comparison - that FBB's crime is mild compared to Kris and that, despite her being a top star bigger than Kris, she's still being severely restricted with her works and where she appears. That Chinese authorities have enough control to do so, and that they *will* do so. And based on this fact, we can conclude that Kris is never, ever coming back. THAT was my point, and I really don't get why you're so hellbent on focusing on FBB and her online appearances instead of Kris and his horrifying crimes - spend some energy on that too, yes? I have nothing more to add.

Thank you so much for explaining everything to me. I am not familiar with the Chinese justice system so I really wanted to know if what I've read was true or not.
I don't think he will be given the death penalty, I think he can afford a good lawyer that can save him from that, but at the same time I wouldn't pass by that the government would want to make an example out of him, showing that even if you're rich and famous you cannot escape

This is terrifying. I understand why she was afraid of saying anything at the time, and it's sad that she even had of think of trying to collect evidence because she knew she wouldn't be believed.
