I feel like her creepy fame hungry stage dad had a huge role in it. She probably thought that she'd make more money and get more recognition as a solo artist under YG because of BP's success, but she was only a minor then and she said she like being in a group before. I think the official reason she gave was that JYP's musical direction wasn't for her, even though all her songs that she released so far could easily be on an Itzy album lol. Last time I heard, her parents are also trying to get her little sister Evelyn into the industry too. They remind me of Ella Gross's creepy mom (Ella is another korean/white child, also sexualized a lot, and signed to YG) Some parents just belong in the trash.

Ahhh, I had heard other people say that they suspect that Somi’s stage dad is the reason she left JYP, but I had no idea he was there with her when she terminated her contract. Agreed that her dad probably saw the dollar signs at YG and esp bc she would get to keep more as an artist than share with the rest of the group. God, I remember when he made some comment that Evelyn was more talented or prettier than Somi or something, like imagine being so trash you put your own kids against each other??

Had to look up Ella Gross and I totally forgot about her. It’s sad how sexualized kids are nowadays and grow up so quickly so they can be super polished for IG like adults.

Yeah the bar is on the ground but atleast Evelyn's instagram is full of pictures of her dressed like a kid and posing like a kid. Ella has been dressed in crop tops and makeup and taking pics with very questionable poses since she was 9. Her mom even posted a vids of Ella's workout routine and skincare routine when she was 10 after commenters kept asking how she keeps her body so slim and skin so clear....both Ella and Evelyn are the same age and the difference in their instagrams is...oof. Like Ella's mom should not be allowed to have daughters.

Well.

Her previous two releases were better. The chorus doesn’t fit with the rest of the song at all and the anti-chorus trend in kpop needs to die. The rest of the song is a snoozefest too. I know this is a thing sometimes but I’ve never been a fan of skipping the bridge/third chorus and instead having the second chorus + ending (??? Idk what to call it but all YG songs have it at the end). Also the song is only 2 1/2 minutes long lol.

But, given how this entire year for kpop for me has been shitting on a song and then eventually doing a 180, I wouldn’t be surprised if I ended up liking it.

She lost so much weight. She recently posted a picture of her scale on Insta and it says she's 46.6.kg. She's 172cm tall. That's actually the usual idol weight but most of them are 7-10cm shorter than her.

Back in college I was ~172 (I’m a couple of cm taller now), and, as a semi-professional dancer, my absolute lowest weight was 60kg and that was after I had been sick with mono, bronchitis and tonsillitis *at the same time.* My skin felt stretched and uncomfortable at that weight. I was way more comfortable in the 62-65 range.

that's so interesting. my lowest weight of 62kg was during a period of insomnia where my appetite was shot and the only thing I could stomach was nature valley bars and I was still quite 'squishy'. but I guess with you being much more active you had muscle weight.

it always makes me wonder about idols because, really, they should be heavier because of the muscles it takes to be able to practice and perform daily like they do.... but they all have these under 50kg goals.... ughhh

It's a good beat but I find that it clashes a little too much with the very light verses. Also I'm tired of YG's songs being so short, skipping the bridge and last chorus for an outro and done. But I'm sure she'll find her audience with this kind of songs!
