T-ara Announces Plans For 1st Group Comeback In 4 Years

It’s official: T-ara is making a group comeback!

On July 29, T-ara rang in the 12th anniversary of their debut—and to celebrate the occasion, the members held a special Naver V Live broadcast to chat with their fans.

During the broadcast, the idols revealed that they had some exciting news: T-ara is currently preparing for their first comeback as a group in over four years.

Hyomin remarked, “There are so many people waiting for us. Our fans have waited such a long time. How many years has it been already? The last time we released an album was in 2017. Four years have passed already.”

“But now, it seems to be the right time,” she went on. “We all thought this was the right timing. And honestly, we’d always talked about the possibility [of making a comeback together] whenever we met up, but realistically, we faced a lot of obstacles. This time, however, we think we’ve found an opportunity, and I think it’s the right time for us to take advantage of that opportunity. So we’re currently working hard on preparing for a comeback!”

Her bandmates enthusiastically chimed in, “We’re making a comeback!”

Jiyeon then added, “When will that be? We can’t keep you all waiting forever, so the question of when is important. We don’t have a precise answer for you right now, but we’ll give you a fuzzy one. Roughly speaking…”

As Jiyeon trailed off, Hyomin continued, “Honestly, it could take a long time, right? But it’ll be before the end of this year. Before winter comes.”

In response, the other members turned to Hyomin and protested, “You gave too much away!” However, she playfully went on to tease their fans, “It’ll be before the first snow.”

After cheering in excitement, the T-ara members jokingly worried, “It’s not going to snow in October, is it?”

T-ara’s last comeback as a group was in 2017, when they released the mini album “What’s My Name.” The comeback was also their first as a four-member group.

😭 so glad they were able to keep the name T-Ara and now they're coming back!!! Such a good news. I really hope people get curious and check them out.
I wonder why they're still promoting as four? Have Soyeon and Boram done anything since they left MBK?

it looks like boram has basically retired (unofficially but yeah) from celebrity life. soyeon seemed the same for a year or two but she was on that one show last year with sera and co. and she's released one or two solo singles since so it's hard to say what's going on with her there.

Thank you! Yeah Boram has basically disappeared and I can't blame her for that, I hope she's doing great out of the idol life! I'll check out Soyeon's music, it's clear I haven't followed her well.

I am always curious about this too... For groups whose membership evolves over time, who gets included? Why? For GG we know why it's 8 members now but for others.....

I would bet a mix of business opportunities and relationships — it's not easy to get people with different goals/companies together again, so you're going to make effort only with those you enjoy and/or share the same goal.
Seems from fans that Soyeon and Boram have different goals than the 4 currently promoting as T-Ara, but left on good terms!

soyeon has done solo work and even very recently actually ("interview"), boram has (pretty much) retired from the industry. both are extremely traumatized by what happened during their t-ara time.
when t-ara was on knowing bros they said they were now a 4 member group ("because other 2 members transferred"). i think that says enough. i think 4 t-ara will always allow them to re-join, but i can not see this happening. right now t-ara is a 4 member group

With everything they faced together, my only wish was for the 6 members to leave on good terms. Seems to be the case, saying they "transferred" is a nice way to put it. I'm glad 4 of them are still using T-Ara's name and doing what they want with it!

the 6 members are still on good terms for sure! they never had any ill feelings towards each other, they dormed together from the start till the end (until their contracts ended)
t-ara has been my ultimate girlgroup since their debut, i have been with them through everything and i can honestly say that soyeon and boram got it the worst out of all of them.
soyeon has the same issues Sera is dealing with (anxiety, depression, sleeping pills), boram is completley traumatized as well.
CCM (or MBK or whatever their name is atm) screwed them over really badly. with the scandal they never did anything for them, or when soyeon got into a big car accident and hurt her back so badly she could barely perform but they forced her (resulting in people to bully her for being lazy, when she could just stand and walk pretty much and do the bare minimum).
also soyeon and boram signed their contracts earlier than the other 4 members so their contract was supposed to end earlier. remember when they had their final comeback with just 4? well, they prepared for it with all 6 members but CCM already knew they didn't want to resign, so they kept delaying it and delaying it so they could force soyeon and borma into resigning. but they didn't so they delayed it so only 4 t-ara could participate. it was all super last minute. soyeon and boram offered to participate as free agents even so it would not have been for nothing + for the other members but the agency didn't want anything to do with them anymore. it resulted in hyomin making quite a lot of mistakes the first week because they had to rush rush into a new version.

soyeon always loved singing the most so i'm not surprised she still wants to sing but just whenever she wants and whenever she can. being with the other members in a professional setting is too triggering for her (same goes for boram).

anyway, sorry for the rant. my t-ara heart can talk for years about their mistreatment

thanks for the detailed description! KKS is forever shit in how he dealt with T-ara and it sucks that Boram and Soyeon are still suffering for all these. I do hope for interactions from ot6 with this release, or if I may them recording it but not performing would be great

I hope Soyeon finds peace and success on her path! I honestly feel bad for her, leaving SM's intense pressure so close to debut only to get with CCM... I remember them being terribly overworked but not the car accident, it's awful
