In line with eased social distancing rules, a mass K-pop concert will be held in person here next month for the first time since the new coronavirus pandemic broke out early last year, organizers said Wednesday.

"Together Again, K-pop Concert" will kick off at the SK Olympic Handball Gymnasium in the Olympic Park in southeastern Seoul at 5 p.m. July 17, according to the Korea Management Federation (KMF).

The long-awaited offline concert will be co-hosted by the KMF and Arirang TV, the country's English-language broadcasting channel that airs worldwide.

A total of 26 K-pop acts -- such as NCT Dream, Oh My Girl, Brave Girls, and BTOB, as well as popular ballad singers Kim Tae-woo and Baek Ji-young -- will perform at the event.

The venue has a capacity of 2,000 seats, but the sit-apart rule will be applied to keep social distance among visitors. As part of anti-COVID-19 measures, visitors will also be required to wear face masks and have their body temperature checked.

The concert will be a rare large in-person event amid the pandemic, as most gigs have switched to virtual ones or were canceled due to virus woes and strict social distancing measures.

But on June 14, a revised guideline went into effect, allowing organizers to host pop music gigs of up to 4,000 attendees as long as basic rules -- such as seat arrangements and on-site hygiene -- are kept. Before that, only up to 99 attendees were allowed.

"We hope the concert ends in success and signals a return to daily life," the KMF said.

Well, the Seoul government just pushed back the plan to loosen restrictions for at least a week (there has been a recent spike in cases countrywide), so…we’ll see if this actually goes ahead as planned.

I mean, just look at Europe where currently thousands are travelling across the continent for the euros... Delta's gonna make a comeback sooner or later.

2k seating? So less than that actually there, it seems like a lot of work for not a lot of attendance

&& i would think less popular groups would be the first to try this on jic

Concerts are starting up again in the states right now too and....idk it seems like a terrible idea. But people here are pretty committed to the stupid "we're over it so its gone now" idea. Most of the shows I've been seeing listed are small but the Hella Mega tour (Fall Out Boy/Green Day/Weezer) is GIANT outdoor arena shows so thats a big yikes. I feel like this will probably end up not happening.....but all the stupidity in America will >_>

Ok. Hate me if you want but I REALLY want to go to Fall Out Boy/Green Day/Weezer. Also, in Houston there is Buzzfest and I want to see the Offspring who is performing. I'm not fully vaxxed yet unfortunately so probably won't go but man....I want to.

Oh that tour is awesome for SURE! I'm just currently too scared to go to a venue that big ;___; I have bought concert tickets to TINY shows though for October and February....hopefully those turn out ok. I'm vaccinated but I'm still just so wary of being packed in too close to people. I will say at those outdoor shows maybe you'll be able to keep further apart so thats a plus! I hope you get fully vaxxed and can go if you feel safe ^.^

One more week till shot #2! Almost there. And I feel a little better in outside events because it is more open and you can move away. Though apparently everyone else does too because there is a distinct lack of masks (Thanks Greg stupid Abbott). I just wanna see those groups once in my life. My middle school self would kill me if I don't go. hahaha! I haven't even looked at tickets yet. That shows how committed I am to going.

Honestly Europe has thrown the rule book out of the window for so long I'm glad they're at least social distancing and wearing masks too
