I was thinking maybe NCT 2021 is about all of their releases this year, but since they wanna have another NCT U debut, maybe not...

Lmao, that lore bullshit needs to die , nobody cares about whatever kwangya is, nobody listens to kpop because they want elaborated stories , and NCT Hollywood is not a good idea , just focus on the already existing NCT units, focus on getting them an actual everlasting hit , I can't believe it but I'm glad shineexo are on hiatus so they don't have to be part of this convoluted universe

unfortunately that's not true. casual/older fans don't care but so many people get into the lore aspects and it keeps them engaged. Loona, Exo, BTS, Monsta X, NCT, Taemin, VIXX...whether it's for a few releases or their overall concept it's compelling and keeps people around.

Not like that though , at the end of the day it's mostly for the music, yes hardcore fans like the concept and they theorize and speculate but like you say, not that heavy , i know BTS has lore that has been a thing for a long while but at the end of the day it's not their whole thing , with exo it's not even lineal, with NCT is just some lines and theories , nobody expects a marvel universe level kind of thing and that's exactly what this man is doing and it's very try hard

Movies based on a universe that exists until now ? SHINee the 5 lights when SHINee was just an experimental group with no lore whatsoever? Red Velvet didn't have it either

Like EXO's story was interesting enough to keep fans speculating and theorizing but subtle enough to not put off casual fans, with kwangya being thrown out every phrase ( i even saw a ballad with a kwangya reference lmao ) and with existencial things ? Yeah i don't see it

I found it rather ok when it was just aespa doing it, since this was sort of their concept from the start, but when I saw the references in 90's Love (one song I loved from NCT2020) I cringed.
Also, NCT's whole dream in a dream thingy was far more interesting than the whole AI stuff they're pulling now (the teasers from NCT2018??? that was nice)
Imo they're just trying to tie all the groups together like - if you wanna stan aespa, you gotta follow also NCT and EXO to know the SMCU background which is bs and will attract only avid SME fans, putting off the gp or solo group stans.

I don't think that is going to work, i like SHINee and exo for the music, not for their concepts ( SHINee doesn't even have one ! ) And there are fans who are into that thing but they shouldn't be forced to acknowledge or like other groups lol, like it doesn't make sense , the individuality of each group then will cease to exist? I don't care about NCT or Aespa , i shouldn't have to watch their MVs for things that have to do with the groups i like , and same with the fans of those groups, they want brand loyalty and they don't realize many people do like many SM groups at the same time without any kind of ~ universe , i also really like f(x) and that's because their music , not because anything else , i just like the SM sound
