One of my best friends, the one who got me into Kpop beyond just my WG bubble during the 2012 winter season & kicked off the fan journey that has me here today, was SOOOO happy to see the reunion performances for After School and Nine Muses that I shared with him when they popped up that when we learned Sera wasn't there because she wasn't *invited* that I.....kind've didn't share that with him? He doesn't follow Kpop like I do - too busy, we usually share releases/links with each other - and while I know he knows of Sera's YouTube channel (because I told him) I don't think he's sat down to watch it.

My question is - should I just leave it as it is? He isn't so fragile that learning the truth would hurt him but I do feel like maybe I should share what I know additionally now IDK

My guess is that he'll either learn it by himself because seeing those performances again made him want to dive deeper into kpop, or that he'll just kept this as a good memory in his mind and won't really go deeper into it.
But it's hard to guess what you should do without knowing your friend and your relationship. Do you think he would want to know? Are 9Muses a group that means a lot emotionally to him? Is the kind of dynamics Lee Sem's comment hinted at a trigger for him? Or do you think he'll want to know how deep the mismanagement of 9Muses ran that it's still impacting the members' interactions years after they all left the group and company?

In my group of friends, I'm the one still really into kpop, the others now have various level of keeping up (from superficial knowlege to only the big scandals, etc). I've thought about it from time to time. But we're all very careful with things that can be triggering, and bad news about a group that emotionally meant a lot to one of us at the time falls under this scope, as that's our dynamics. We keep the door open, that's how I ended up talking with them about Burning Sun and Y**ch*n of TVXQ (one of my friends used to bias him long time ago, she learned the news by herself and the talk was more about how to deal with having learned that). I don't like bringing out bad news, it feels more natural to address it if the person themselves want to know more about something that I happen to know. Idk

I've been going to these outdoor kpop dance lessons this month. Had a convo with the girl teaching kpop dances today... she told us about how she'd won a video call for I think it was Ateez? And I'm like wow isn't it really hard to get those? She's like yeah, well I did buy 30 albums...that cost about 500€ (idk how the math works out but those were the numbers she gave)...then she said her mom would kill her if she knew. Whew girl lol.

And then I was like well at least you got the video call, imagine if you didn't! She was like yeah that would've been awful...

Like yeah I knew this happened but it's surreal to actually meet a person who's actually done it irl.

She's apparently a multi-stan because she's seen dozens of groups live, and buys their albums.



On another note, I did a regrettable purchase (imo) this week. I was buying a new laptop, and when I went to buy it the salesperson sold me this 3-year contract of Office licenses + virus protection + Cloud space. I was actually kinda unsure if I really needed this and wanted to call my brother before I made any in-the-moment decisions, (+ I'm always a bit wary of monthly subscriptions as opposite to one-time purchases) but for some reason I couldn't make myself do it, and ended up buying this plan... that's non-refundable.

Anyways afterward I talked with my brother and yeah my gut instinct was right and I could've gone without this package as Windows has its own virus protection and our family might have left-over Office licenses I could've used (or something like that)... this is not the first time I've been roped into buying something I didn't plan for initially, but in this day and age, almost everything can be returned/canceled, but not THIS deal!

So I'm now committed to this 500€ spread over 3 years plan. I mean it's not completely useless, or terribly expensive, I'm sure I can find a use for it, it just might've managed just as well without it, and I hate wasting money so that's really the thing that's gnawing at me lol. I'm being a tad dramatic about this I admit... also me being unemployed makes me even more paranoid about spending money.

....at least it's 500€ for several things and not a gamble to win a 1-2 minute video call! (I mean ok it's her money and she can do whatever she wants with it, but for someone like me who always needs to have a certain level of certainty I will be having my money's worth in some form, these money-spending habits that kpop cultivates kinda horrify me ngl lmao)

last year there was a fan in my country who scammed people for about $200~$300 claiming her grandfather was sick and she needed funds for his medicines... the person she scammed most money from found out because she posted her album purchases on twitter and facebook, i think. 🙃 it made local news, lol.
i guess my point is, at least if it's her own money, she's free to spend it wherever she wants. (even if i personally think 500 euros for multiple copies of one album is... wasteful, to put it nicely lmao).

I think I’m addicted to making big purchases and watching my money go down or something even though it makes me feel sick.

I’m getting a car from Carvana. I’ve read the reviews good bad and ugly and have decided it’s pretty much like your average used car dealership, the fees are just better on the pocket and they deliver. I wanted a new car but the car chip shortage seems to be affecting the dealerships in my area or something and they sold the car I wanted and won’t have similar models in stock any time soon. I found a 2020 Nissan with a little over 10k miles for less than it’s kbb rating and it was well maintained according to the car fax so I jumped on it.

I’m also going to Seoul next spring. We already purchased the plane tickets since they were pretty cheap in comparison to before COVID and now it’s getting everything else ready and it’s a lot. I’m excited for everything but if I look at the money I’ll be spending over the next few months I might cry.

Not much to talk about this week, it wasn't as eventful as the last one!
I had really bad luck with public transport for the past weeks and I'm absolutely getting fed up. Now that the country is officially re-opened, everything seems to be falling apart? and there's a strike planned next week even though nothing is happening at the moment for the transport companies??? thankfully now I can ask for a working remote day when there's a strike... ffs... sorry lol I needed the rant.
Looking forward to a chill weekend now! I need to do some shopping and it's time to go back to the hairdresser lmao, I should make an appointement. I need to cut half of my hair at least.

Y’all I’m so happy, i have to share this with someone! When I made my class schedule in may I didn’t know who my professors were because for some reason they don’t get revealed until later for the business school. So I picked morning classses because i figured rona would still have us doing virtual and I can “attend” class while at work. If we had to go in person i would use this as a reason to leave my job. For nine years,I’ve been working and going to school and I took it slow because i didn’t know what I wanted to do! I’m almost done with my bachelors and these upcoming classes are gonna be hard. I wanted to just focus on my studies!

since I have upcoming trips to Japan and Spain I thought why not stay until December. Lately I’ve been dreading going to work but today I saw who my professors were and they’re all the good ones. The night time profs aren’t as great, so I have no choice but to leave!!! I feel like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders!! I’m so happy!!! This upcoming semester is gonna kick my ass but who cares I’ll have ample time to focus on it and not care about the minutiae of office life!!

Edit: I’m planning in giving my resignation in July and give them ample time to find someone to replace me.

I got my multi girl group albums order come in :) my little review:

- Pixy: BEAUTIFUL! It’s hardcover outside packaging and feels solid. I loved the Photobook and they included large prints of the butterfly shots. Great first impression!
- GWSN: Really nice, I was worried with it seems like their company has money issues that it would feel cheap but it definitely didn’t. The teasers made me think it would be a bland photobook but it is lovely! I got a Miya photocard so I’m happy :)))
- Bling Bling: I’m more understanding with this one as this was the most ‘nugu’ purchase, I’m grateful for what they put together since they are a smaller company with limited funds. It does feel cheap but I can definitely see the effort there! Maybe over time it’ll improve. I like the overall ‘contrast’ concept though.
- fromis_9: This was the only one I was kind of disappointed with. It does feel cheap to me imo, which I’m less understanding since their company has more resources than Bling Bling’s. Passport concept is very cute and I love the photobook, but Yukika’s debut album did a similar airport theme and I liked her’s way more. I love the songs so I don’t regret it but idk makes me rethink about buying another album.

I was able to buy my first Twice album at Target :))) made me very happy. never imagined I could buy an album of theirs from within a major retailer and not just online so it felt special.

Speaking of GWSN… apparently there was some drama with Miya and fans? There is no secret that Miya has a large wlw fanbase, and her androgynous look is chosen to pull in these type of fans. I mean hello I’m one of them lol! For some fan thing a fan was talking about marriage I guess, and Miya had to clarify about the marriage being heterosexual and needing a husband (I can’t remember how she phrased it) and some fans are mad and claiming she’s queerbaiting. I just have mixed feelings, since the personas and images presented to us are to fulfill fantasies, I don’t like it but it’s very much a part of kpop. So her looks are deliberate choices, maybe because I’m older I knew how she dresses and looks does not automatically mean she’s gay. It could be queerbaiting but with so little representation, it’s nice to see an idol that doesn’t project a super femme image all the time. But also with how homophobic Korea and her home country Japan is, I don’t think the fans get that she even if she is a lesbian/bi, she can’t be upfront about it since can impact her career. So idk. Personally I’m not writing off Miya.

I’m pass 2 weeks from my 2nd dose of vaccine so I guess I’m fully vaccinated and clear from side effects? Weirdly the only effect I had was being thirsty and arms aching, as compared to others around me who were feeling groggy and feverish. I’ll take the positives though!

Watched finished Move to Heaven and The Uncanny Counter over the past 2 weeks and damn those 2 shows really tug at your emotions. Move to Heaven was sweet in general, and the episode where Lee Jehoon found out about his brother’s sacrifice I lost it.
Uncanny Counter I liked the dynamics between the 4 and the 2 friends in school. But I skipped a lot of the main lead’s scenes because it was so hard to picture him as a champion against bullies especially after his bullying history and scandal.

I was so ready for this weekend 😴 my work schedule has been insane this week. I am tempted to go back to old my role, but my boss wants to convert me to a permanent manager position… and with that comes a nice pay rise and I have a wedding to pay for now so…

On the subject of that — I’m going to view a potential venue tomorrow!! It looks pretty online and I hope I like it because 1, it’s a really good price! And 2, they are able to book us for July 16th, I’m so excited to have a potential date!

hello i am having stupid bank problems that require me calling but no one is answering OR go to the bank but i'd have to like.... get on a plane for that. as i am not vaccinated and my passport is expiring in a few months, that is not at all viable. it's my fault bc i have phone anxiety and i put it off but now i only have one day to fix it and welp.

in kpop news i've been getting into onewe, because 2021 is apparently the year i get into groups with "one" in their names. their main vocalist is like... absurdly, really good? and the guitarist reminds me so much of bts jin. i'm kind of sad they're flopping vs their brother group oneus, but i suppose idol bands never have the fanbase idol groups do. (i also have a soft spot for kpop siblings, watching the dong twins squabble and snipe at each other while their respective groups are just is very entertaining.) i just wish they weren't rbw because... rbw.

i just want to add that i've been on hold for 15 minutes and it's an international call and i am completely screwed lol.

my mom had both of her surgeries this week! the surgeon is kind of a perfectionist; he said he was "very pleased" so i'm feeling good about that. she had a cage in her lower back that was extremely loose, so the first surgery was him taking that out, putting a larger one in, and making sure it was secure. yesterday they had to remove metal spacers from her disc space and replace them with bone graft. it had been a real mess for the last 3 1/2 years.
she already said the only pain she's been feeling is from the actual procedures, so that's definitely good news. aside from a snafu with the pain meds last night, she's doing fine! our house is split-level (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Split-level_home) so she's already been told to stay put upstairs in the bedroom for a while.

i can't stop thinking about the condo collapse in miami. every time i check the news, the number of people missing goes up. :( aside from people not knowing if their loved ones are okay, the terrifying thing is how there was no warning at all before it happened. so scary.

edit: i just noticed OP's question 😂 i am actually slightly hypermobile! i used to be able to touch my thumb to my wrist. my elbows have that ~weird~ look when i extend my arm.

I've a question for all of you. lately, no matter what I eat, no matter what I drink, I become so bloated that my belly hurts so much i can hardly breathe. I get super uncomfortable, I cannot even walk for too long because I don't feel that good. I can't even sleep with my stomach up, I need to sleep on my side, cause I feel like I'm about to sofucate.
I don't eat dairy, I dont' drink sodas, I eat mostly vegetables, little meat and I love fish

does anyone ever went through this? does anyone have any advice? I feel like a fish and it hurts!

One of the little joys I've had during the pandemic is setting up my little wfh office. It's placed in a nook in my bedroom, and it's dark and kinda cramped, but I love my little gobling cave. If only rgb lights prices weren't so crazy, I'd get some phillips hue or govee lights to really bring it to life, but still, I love it's kinda industrial looks.

I've finally been able to register for the vaccinne, just hope it doesn't take too long, because even my introverted hermit ass is feeling the isolation now.
