TWICE has teased about a big surprise coming, and it looks like we got the reveal. A new song, an all English digital track targeting specifically for the international market, will be released in September. No official day announced but will be a Friday release as that is new music release day in the US market at least, stay tuned for more info.

* Besides their English versions of title tracks, they have a full English song on their Japanese album ‘&Twice’ called “What You Waiting For”. But this will be the first English song aimed for their western ONCE fans.

i hope they won't be going for a ~Western Pop Sound~. the line between that and kpop is getting a lot blurrier anyway but i'll be disappointed if they come out with something that sounds like justin bieber, lol.
i'd be happier to see a fully promoted english version of one of their korean title tracks, but still, yay new music.

So JYPE is fully pushing them into the US market? At least 3 of them look done with the idol life and lack any energy during their recent performances, not sure if that's a good idea. I guess he saw what happened to BTS when Dynamite took off on pop radio and is hoping that the same will happen to Twice.

Didn’t JYP publicly acknowledge that he regretted trying to push WG so much in the US market? Between this, requiring new trainees to have foreign language certificates, and making EN versions for all of Itzy’s title tracks now, the dude obviously never learned his lesson.

No offense but bc of their concepts (and none of them being fluent English speakers) Twice is the last group that would make it in the US. I think if JYP continues Itzy down the BP reject title tracks road Itzy might have a chance too but iirc I don’t think any of them speak English either (I don’t follow them so someone please correct if wrong).

Itzy are much more fluent in English and I think they have been practising hard with the amount of interviews and variety in English. Lia is a native speaker I think and Ryujin sounds pretty fluent

True re: WG, but the Western pop landscape was pretty different back then, these days kpop groups including Twice are getting late night performance promotion and their albums are charting well on Billboard, I get the desire to try again.

ohhhh! well i'm definitely excited to hear it, i just hope it's good and not as awful as bts's english songs lol. twice never miss though so i'm hopeful.

I feel similarly, I’m looking forward to it. Especially I think it’ll be just for streaming/maybe promoted to radio if there is a demand. They might have a couple performances for it but I don’t see them doing a lot of promo for this honestly unless it takes off. Curious if it’ll get a music video even, since that was a missed opportunity with Cry For Me.

I hope it’s not like BTS western centric songs either lol. Those songs do nothing for me. I think they’d benefit putting out a catchy party song.

What do you think? Would itzy start to have 3 cbs a year this year? I hope not, especially because their choreos are hard.

Anyway, when did having 3 korean cbs a year become a thing? RV started doing it in 2017, i think Twice too? Who else did it/still does it?

Tbh i think having just 2 it's better, cause it reduces the chances of the members getting injuried, and also cause it gives the company more time to find better songs (or so one would expect). But money is money, so :/

I got into Gfriend very late, but I was never a fan of the 3 comebacks a year. By the time you finish promoting one, you're right back in the dance studio rehearsing for the next. They had no time off.

I'd be down with 2 comebacks a year. I get people want to be there for summer so give you that summer bop and then my fall/winter chill song.

Exactly, or sometimes they've some free time but then need to record the songs and film the mvs, pose for the photos, learn 2 choreos (for the tt and that one b-side promoted on the 1st week of their cb), prepare/practice for the showcase, etc. in a short amount of time. It can be brutal.

Yeah, 2 cbs a year it's enough. I like when groups tend to cb a certain time of the year, like I expect a Itzy cb early in the year, and a RV and a Twice one in autumn/early winter.

Anyways, the english version's of their recent titles are solid so I'm looking forward to this. I'm guessing Republic will be more in charge of this than JYPE....so hopefully the song will have good promo.
