some parts aren't terrible and i like the choreo but it leans too much into the rock sound for me, the audio mixing is kind of bad and the verses don't really fit the sound. i'll probably still watch some of their stages.

Alice in Darkland 5. 독(Poison) Inst. from the teasers i saw this title as a continuation of what they did with fantasy which already had a rock sound so im curious as to how different the 2021 version is. the original fantasy at least had a better balance of rock/idol sound than poison but i have a feeling they'll just layer heavy guitar instrumentals over everything for the 2021 version.

this is very anime jrock/jmetal and the first verse sounds remarkably like dc's piri. some of the background mixing was too much lol but i don't dislike it.

i've never listened to them before but a lot of my complaints with dreamcatcher come in that they're rock/edm hybrid and it's not my fave thing... so this is much better for me. i wish the instrumental was cleaner (& same goes for some of the vocal mixing on this song) but i can forgive it. if they continue with sound i'd love some more screamo vocals tho
So I did listen to my fair share of metal groups back in the day so I'm always very hyped when pop meets rock or metal. This instrumental is HEAVY, they really leaned into it. I think people more into pop won't like it as much but I do. Loving the bridge too! It's not perfect, I really hope the mixing is better on Spotify than on Youtube... I also could do without the screaming in the first post chorus, it's jarring and I think the guitar solo in the last post chorus worked better, but they're committed to their metal concept I guess lol. Overall, nice effort, I'm enjoying it!
I can see people picking the song apart to compare with Dreamcatcher, there is indeed a part in the verse that sounds really like Piri. But it wouldn't be a first in kpop... I hope there's no animosity against the members.
I like girl groups going for the more rock style concept, and the chorus is an earmworm!
The only problem is that this sounds like it was made for an anime opening, like only the chorus and bridge are good? This song would be good if it was 1:30, not nearly 3 1/2.
I hate to make the comparison to DC, but that group gets a LOT of "this song would sound so good as an anime OP" but when they actually released a song for an anime it wasn't their best sound? I don't know if that makes sense, but like it's different to have a good song that could be an anime OP and it's another thing if the song was made because it's will be an OP. Does that make sense idk
They all look real cool here! (also Yechan with short hair, oh my <3) The song is fine I think- I like the guitar parts- and I'm hoping it will grow on me more after I watch some of the live stages. But even if the song was terrible, I'd still want to support them cause I like this group's vibe and the fact that the oldest members are close to my age (and hot, haha)
I'm here for the guitar and the hard rock/metal influence. If this is the direction they want to take I kinda wish they'd just go full Baby Metal but that's a personal preference.
Are they ever going to let that poor girl, Daewang(?), take the mask off? I get that they've got a concept going but it's been 2.5 years. That's really not fair to her. Assuming it's the same person this entire time. Which I suppose we have no way of knowing.
I think more groups putting out music like Dreamcatcher would be a good thing! More diversity for the kpop market and a nice break from typical girl crush songs. It helps DC stand out but also it’s nice to see other groups bring this type of sound
I like the idea of this more than the finished product. It has elements I definitely like but idk the song is missing something for me. Not very memorable on first listen. So far Fantasy remains their best song.
But! This MV is a huge improvement over their last one, they at least had some budget here where it was nonexistent last time. I do think the group should stick with this sound and stop jumping around. Fantasy drew me in but the constant concept changes lost me (plus how the group is run but now I understand more about how the company’s background and I’m less critical lol) but if they continued stuff like this, I think they could finally build a fanbase.
I’m in this post months later to say I’m now obsessed with this song lol. It appeared on tiktok and I’m like I’m in love haha! Idk why the first time it didn’t hit like I wanted but now I need to listen repeatedly for the lost time I could’ve been listening to it
