Seventeen member Hoshi has donated 100 million KRW (approximately 90,000 USD) for underprivileged communities in his hometown of Namyangju.

According to the Community Treasury of Northern Gyeonggido, Hoshi donated 100 million KRW on June 10th to the Namyangju City Social Welfare Foundation. In recognition of his contribution, his name was added to the organization’s "Honor Society," a special roster of large-sum donors.

Hoshi later stated that he made the donation for the occasion of his 25th birthday on June 15th. He further stated that he had heard that more and more individuals and businesses in the region had come in need of aid as the long-term effects of the Covid-19 pandemic have stretched on and he decided to donate in an effort to help the people of his home region.

The mayor of Namyangju Jo Kwanghan stated, “The impact and influence of a well-known public figure donating to charitable causes are profound. We are grateful for his generosity and his concern for regional affairs and we pledge to use the funds to serve those of our community who are neglected and in need.”

Furthermore, Hoshi has donated to his hometown in the past as well. Over the previous year, he donated scholarship funds to his former middle and high schools on several different occasions, in the hopes that he could help provide aid to underprivileged students who could not otherwise afford to continue pursuing their education.

nice! did not know he had that amount just lying around. i appreciate svt making their anniversary thing donating to charity, rather than accepting ridiculously expensive fangifts. if only fans would donate in their name rather than buying luxury products, what a better place we'd be in

i read somewhere that his schoolteacher had to help him with fees so he could graduate high school, so it's nice to see him set up scholarships since
