the chorus is the best part of the song and i don't understand why because their verses and bridges are usually a ton of fun but they're so boring here? the song feels way too short as well.

i have yet to listen to the album and it's way too soon to say anything about digital charting but i doubt they'll sell 1M copies this time, at least on hanteo, which is a bummber considering it's been 8 month since the last comeback and last time they had this much time in between releases they did it with ease. i don't know why hybe and pledis thought pissing off fans every single day in the month leading up to the comeback would be a good marketing strategy. not only was there very little hybe for the comeback despite the 5 week long pre-order period due to the lack of teasers but fsr reason they also thought releasing merch non-stop during that period was a good idea? going as far as putting 6th anniversary content behind a paywall? no special video (except the boring ass all my love "acoustic" version no one asked for), no vlive, just more merch to buy. how they thought making merch their main event for the anniversary three weeks before the new album release would encourgae fans to actually support the comeback is beyond me. and don't even get me started on seventeen having to cancel their contract with lawson in order to let hybe distribute their albums in japan (and how shipments to japan are already delayed LOL). seventeen aren't bts and carats aren't armys, you can't promote seventeen the way you promote bts and expect the same results.

anyway.. happy comeback i guess.. i'll go listen to the album now.

album thoughts as i'm listening to it:

1. heaven's cloud BANGS. why does ready to love sound the way it does when heaven's cloud is right there showing us how it's done.

2. ready to love.. is a song that exists.. actually it's better without mv but i still think it would've benefitted from a longer duration.

3. anyone is really nice too. their ot13 b-sides aren't always my favorite but i doubt the unit tracks will be able to top heaven's cloud and anyone.

4. gam3 bo1 is a hiphop unit song for sure.. they sound like they had a lot of fun recording it and it's not my least favorite track of theirs but it doesn't hold a candle to heaven's cloud or anyone for me. tbf hyperpop/glitchcore is also just not my thing.

5. wave sounds exactly how i thought it would, a little nicer even. i don't dislike any song so far so that's cool.

6. vocal unit have yet to put out a bad song but this is probably one of their more boring ones? it's very 2nd gen ballad though which i kinda like. reminds me of i wish but slightly better.

okay, the album is good actually and i'm less annoyed now (sales picked up too but tbf it's a friday release so i wonder if they can keep it up). i will still be praying on bang pd's downfall though, why is the lackluster song he co-composed the title track and not.. literally every other song on the album?

i love it! is it a top tier svt title? no but their top tier ones are otherworldly so i dont expect that every time. its cute and catchy the 'you give me purpose' is already stuck in my head. i prefer it listening to it by itself rather than watching the mv. the mv has some pretty shots but i dont like how its filmed and its pretty basic. with the rain scenes the rain is too heavy lol i cant see them properly in 1080 quality. i don't know how i feel about the choreo after watching their musicbank stage either. everything just feels a bit more generic than usual (is this the hybe influence.....) but i'm still enjoying it.

heavens cloud is a little cheesy but it is really cute. i love anyone, everyone sounds good on it and i like the instrumental a lot. gam3 bo1s sound effects arent annoying as i thought they would be from the teaser i actually really like it, the bit thats completely sound effects is a bit much but it doesnt last that long thankfully. i'm not as into wave as immediately as the other b-sides but there are quite a few parts of it i like so i can see it growing on me more. same dream same night same mind feels very like a song that would play in the background of a 90s romcom lol which is not an insult, its not super impactful but as always they sound great.

the b-sides are great on this tbh and it makes up for what the title is lacking.

you're right!! their last two minis were okay but didn't really have a lot of stand-out b-sides (like one per album only) so i wasn't expecting much from this album but it kinda delivered and i'm less mad now LOL.

both set degins were really cheap and boring but that seems to be a pattern this comeback. anyway i like that they sang live (i feel like kpop groups rarely do nowadays), they sounded good! i hope we get come more performances of anyone.

It's very pretty and visually attractive!! SVT is one of those groups where the members haven't gotten just so attractive with age — they're so handsome and just like mature. DK in that sleeveless top, wow, Jeonghan long hair, wow

It's a good song, easy to listen to. I like that it's fresh and light for summer and not overall concept-y tho IA it does make it seem 'boring' I appreciate the focus on vocals. SVT has cultivated the singing abilities of their rap line enough to pull that off. I wish there was a big vocal moment. Like a big high note or catchy hook. It's just a song

I'll look forward to the live stages! The bits of choreo seemed nice

I like Heavans Cloud more than Anyone, but I can see why that is the 2nd promoted track. Both are really good full group bsides tho

Wave is good! It's definitely my fave of the 3 unit songs and Ive honestly have high expectations of PU. VU didn't necessarily disappoint, they sound so good and there's some flair ok, I just feel like I'm always comparing new VU songs to their past ones. It's Like they need a really good mid-tempo ballad writer to give them a song

HHU... Is to be expected. I usually warm up to theirs but maybe not this

Their weakest MV? Those slo-mo parts felt so random, and the way they cut the choreo shots with the individual shots felt so erratic. The fact that you can't even see Jun and Jeonghan's faces when they came through for the chorus in the rain. Such an ugly choice! And such a disservice to Jeonghan who looks So. Good. with the long blonde hair grrrrrr. The set was really pretty though and somehow reminded me of aju nice except sadder and nostalgic lol

I’m enjoying Ready for Love a lot more on repeated listens. The chorus is so addicting! Dk and Seungkwan just keep getting better, when they harmonised during the breakdown ghghgghhhgh my fave vocalists keep me well fed. Also, this is an underbaked raw cookie dough gives you salmonella take, but it kind of sounds like a subdued version of enhypen's sound? idk how to explain it but it kinda feels like a seventeen-ified interpretation of drunk-dazed to me? Idk, just an observation. Like, Seventeen adopts trends but adapts them to fit their sound and image and i like that i guess is what i'm saying.

Overall I liked the genres they chose to explore. The quality of the B-sides are really consistent, and I loved their vocals, in particular Jun, Jeonghan, and, of course, Seungkwan and DK. Although, they sounded kinda filtered at times, like at 3:45 for Same dream, same mind, same night idk what happened there. My favourite tracks were Heaven's cloud and Anyone, they really catered to me specifically with those two🥰🥰

Honestly, I wrote this before bed and comparing them now makes me want to redact my comment lol 😳. I didn't know about the songwriter, how interesting. The similarities (if any) are really subtle, just the constant drum beat throughout the song and some of the instruments felt reminiscent.

FUCK I forgot about goddamn Big Hit.... UGH no wonder. At first I was like "are they just worse singers than I remembered lol" but Seungkwan came in muted/fuzzy too so I was like NAH its not that!!!!!!!!! The vocals are weirdly muted, it reminds me of that WayV release where you couldnt really hear them but it's not as bad.

Praying for Nuest next lol. I'm sure nothing can be worse than Pledis mgmt wise but I am not here for this mess, these groups are not like BTS/TXT, they can sing... pls

i'm listening to the album and can't wait to listen to it again while listening to it, it's so good! Can't wait to dive in to really enjoy all the sounds and delicious notes and instrumentals. Right now Anyone is my fave.
ready to love is fine, the chorus is really catchy but the verses aren't so memorable...also WW's voice at the start is a bit too soft...i know it's a direction choice probably. But Jun totally shines in the track, song and mv-wise both!
For the mv, what's with that rain scene? Couldn't they have given us more angles there or less rain, so we can see them better? I would say the money it probably took to hire this YG director was not worth it. Oh but one positive thing about the mv is that it was shot outside!!

I don't mind the title track! Not my favorite of theirs, but certainly not my least favorite either. Towards the end of the first listen I realized that I really don't like the "blown speaker" effect they have on the chorus, and I'm also not a huge fan of the drums.
At the start of the second listen I kinda got the feeling that the whole song is like one long chorus, and that's why it left me feeling kinda bored. I'm gonna bop to this for the rest of june though! :-)

MV is meh, i have No interest in watching it more than once. I'd rather listen on Spotify and watch live stages (I heard a rumour that Woozi is in a crop top!!!).

Off to listen to the whole EP, cause as is most often the case, the b-sides are probably better!

I kinda thought this song would be my favorite, and I was right. I am weak for a good PU bop. Giving me everything I want! The8 vocals, Dino vocals, Hoshi vocals, and of course Jun falsetto. This is the kind of song I have on repeat for weeks on end. The kind I lay in bed and day dream to. LOVE

Same dream, same mind, same night
Woozi is my bias, and so I can never not like a VU song, but I did like this more than I expected! It's like Second Life and I Wish had a baby. Love it!

they won't be enlisting for a couple more years. the oldest members are turning 26 (international age) this year so they still have a good 3 (?) years ahead of them.

as for disbandment.. contracts should be up for renewal early next year, so that'll be interesting.

definitely one of their weaker tracks and the ugliest mv they've ever had. horrible colour filters, ugly backgrounds, slowmo shots, the dancing in the rain you couldn't even see them in? what a waste of money. honestly, i would have taken a cheap snapshoot-like vid directed by mingyu instead

the hybe filtering is there and so annoying, especially when it's over seungkwan's or dk's voice. even the rappers are serviceable singers so the processing is unnecessary and puts me off. i'm probably going to wait until i get full lives of them and just download that

Otherwise the album is easy to listen to. The most consistent album for me (as a casual person following Seventeen‘s music). I can imagine listening to this in my daily routine, I already do.

My favourite tracks are: Heaven‘s Cloud, Wave and Same dream same mind same night (which kinda reminds me of a Bruno Mars song). Anyone isn‘t bad as well, but like GAM BO1 it‘s distracting me too much, but not in a good way.
Ready to love is probably the only one song I would skip when it comes up.
