RBW has shared that discussions are still ongoing regarding MAMAMOO member Wheein’s contract renewal.

On June 9, Sports Kyunghyang reported that Wheein had decided to part ways with her agency RBW after her the expirations of her contract. The news outlet shared that she would still continue to promote with MAMAMOO through mutual discussions with the agency.

Following the report, a source from RBW clarified, “Nothing has been decided regarding Wheein’s renewal of her contract. We are currently having our final discussions. We will officially announce the decision when it is finalized.”

MAMAMOO debuted in June 2014, making this their seventh year as a group. Solar and Moonbyul renewed their contracts with RBW in January, and Hwasa renewed hers in March.

The group recently returned with their 11th mini album “WAW” and the accompanying title track “Where Are We Now.”

The member with the least perspective outside of RBW might be the one not resigning. How surprising

they are one of the groups that i would really love to see live, i saw their online concert and i'm almost 99% they lip synced every song. which drove me slightly mad because they can carry a tune lol

Maybe Wheein is tired of being an idol and want to go for a more low-key/indie career? She might not make as much money as with Mamamoo but she'll have more control over her music and schedules

Interesting. Well, I’m not too familiar with the group dynamic but I’m sure the other three can still carry on as a trio if she can’t work things out with RBW. Can’t fault her if she’s done with the idol life tbh.

Wait, what? Why? I figured if anyone wouldn't renew it would be Hwasa, but clearly that's not the case.

I wonder what Wheein's thought process here is. Is she tired? Is she not getting enough support in her solo ventures? I can't imagine how her contract negotiations wouldn't favor her. Mamamoo is by far the most profitable group under RBW. I wonder what they won't/can't promise her in the new contract.

Hwasa got everything she wants and asked for at rbw (she has been very smart since day 1: rejecting the diet, getting song credit since the first album)
She could go elsewhere but why would she?
Number 1 cf girl, magazine cover, variety, solo career, collabs with big names...
