"It appears that Korean stars have cornered some big-ticket TVCs in the Phil. and at the expense of our local stars, (the latest of which is BTS for Smart) . This could be the result of Pinoys' growing penchant for Kpop & Kdramas, made accessible via Netflix, VIU, YouTube and even our local stations. But more importantly, I would think that our local stars have been too careless with their image that they have lost much of their luster and magic.

Viability as an endorser depends greatly on public image. Hence, stars should always be very careful with how they look, what they do and what they say... at least in public. Apparently, many take these for granted and their followers consequently get disappointed. Then, they are dropped like hot potatoes... end of career.... the Koreans take over... the rest is history... 🙄"

my new mobile phone saga is still continuing, i tried 2 but because of my health issues the screens were a no-go for me. today i'm getting another one to try, hopefully this one is better so i can keep it. my current/old phone is working but ONLY when it's charging (non stop). considering i'm always home it's not as bad as it sounds but it's just super inconvenient. imagine there being an emergency i can't even use my phone ugh. my brother tried to repare it multiple times now replacing multiple items but nothing helped.
i hate how short-lived phones are these days.

what comeback(s) are you looking forward to omona? i'm really looking forward to so many! i hope may/june will be good and that we are getting some great releases!

I don't have a new obsession but I will admit that, despite myself and omona, I am charmed by Bobby. He just seems joyful, grateful, and comfortable in his skin. And like a doodus. Anybody you like despite yourself omona?

hi omona! i've been feeling really depressed and out of it these past few months and my schoolwork's taken a massive hit as a result lol.... procrastinating a project as i type this actually that i present later today but haven't started. it's not that hard though but i'm still putting it off orz.

i've also been putting off listening to new music stuff, especially kpop, but usually i'm like at least a week or two late to comebacks so i'll get around to it sooner or later. i'm excited to check out the new itzy album but i've heard it's not that good which is kind of disappointing, especially after not shy which i really didn't like - but then again i haven't listened at all, so what am i saying lol. super excited for the aespa comeback though, i've missed them and i can't wait to see what they do next

to answer the question, my latest obsession is actually several bands/artists i've discovered over the last month - kinoko teikoku, bokutachi no iru tokoro, ichiko aoba, and a couple more. but the biggest obsession is oomori seiko. i've known of her for a while since she's a huge idol fan and started her own idol group a few years ago, the controversial zoc, but i only recently checked out her solo music, and was blown away by the folk punk sound of her early stuff. zettai shoujo and pink are perfect albums and i recommend them to anyone, seiko's really amazing. i've even been listening to some of her predebut demo albums lol. i still haven't checked out her post-signing pop stuff though, but i'll get to it once i'm over my obsession with her folk stuff lol

I'm so behind on kpop releases as well, I totally understand you. It's weird to think about what specific things can be impacted by mental health in the end - I've been really stressed out lately and I think that's the real reason why I haven't checked new kpop releases as much as I normally do (and procrastinating on many other things).

my concentration span has been terrible the past few weeks and today i procrastinated soooo much lol (even right now by writing this) i went on a two hour walk with a coworker this morning and just vented about work — that's also work right? (yes) nevertheless, i still feel proud because since i didn't have to teach this week i finally got around to finishing up my grading (despite the procrastination). anything you're particularly proud of this week?

has anyone watched w: between two worlds? i am watching the show while working on crochet gifts for friends but i can't really get into it even though i feel like i've seen people rave about the show. the female lead's acting is not the best and lee jong suk's chemistry with her is very flat, which is surprising to me because i thought he could have chemistry with a doorknob if he wanted to.

as for my obsession: it's been sf9 for a while. i want to follow more girl groups but since the disbandment of wonder girls and f(x) i haven't really found a girl groups that i am emotionally invested in — not even weki meki and twice even though they're my fave girl groups currently active.

Do any of yall read webtoons? I’ve been OBSESSED with Guardians of the Video Game since end of last summer. The art starts off a little weird but the author finds his stride and it really improves. Also the story is super good!!! It’s translated but you can also go read the Korean one with papago if you’re impatient like me lol.

Hi all! I decided to treat myself and get some new kpop merch. I ordered a magazine online and picked it up in store yesterday. While I was at the shop I bought an album too. I didn't realize it until I got home, but I got the wrong things.

It's not that they have me the wrong stuff, I just bought two items that I mistook for something else. I really wanted the Elle magazine, but instead ordered Dazed. And I mistook one MX album for another one (I'm gonna chalk that one to being a new monbebe lol).

I don't know where my mind has been this week! I was literally holding that album in my hands, but took a different one to the counter wtf. I don't mind, I'll keep them both. That Dazed issue also has a pretty Astro photoshoot too. But now I'm looking at the things I originally wanted online again and mildly annoyed I have to spend money lol. Because now I REALLY want it.

My boss is trying to make our team bigger by hiring. We've already talked about a student joining us part-time (while studying) and who's supposed to work primarly with me, so that means more responsability to me as an internship tutor. She's now talking about another person to share my work load, but under my supervision? She would be the manager for everything HR-related but I'll have the lead for our day-to-day work. I have to think about it. There's a lot to think about o_o

My latest obsessions are still video-game related, I had Story of Seasons the other month, now it's Genshin Impact. I'm done with the main storyline (for now) and working on raising my teams/doing sidequests. It's becoming some kind of routine just like ACNH is (because I'm still showing up on my ACNH island, talking to my villagers and moving some stuff around lol) but I'm also having a lot of fun diving into the lore of this game which is pretty cool, tbh.

A little off topic but not entirely, I also think that I'm being "lazy" with my latest obsessions? I've had a deep dive into video games since last year (lockdowns definitively weighted down on me) and I had a ton of fun with it but I feel like I don't have much else at the moment. But it ties to what I was saying the other day - I'm really anxious about the "back to normal" discourse at the moment, I'm more anxious than before when out of my comfort zone (which physically right now is 1. my flat 2. my office) (also I'm scaored the governement is easing up measures too early) and video games definitively appear like the safer hobby. I would be home with the cat purring on my lap. What could be better? It's going to be a struggle to stop self-isolating myself lol.

Nothing much to talk about at the moment. It's all quiet. I'm guessing the reopening in my country (which will really start happening this weekend) will soon makes things less quiet.

Not really an obsession (yet) but a shop in my neighborhood got a shipment of Reqins ballerines and I tried some on and they’re sooooo cute and comfortable but the pricing is a little too expensive for me to justify right now, especially since I already have a few pairs of flats for spring/summer. But I keep going to the store website and looking at all the colors. I’ve done this like three times today already lolol. They’re so cute 😭 Beer me the willpower to get past this 🙏🏻

My building had a blackout today of all things and it really highlighted how incredibly dependent we all are on electronics. All my neighbors were poking their heads out of their apts bc so many of us are working from home and we all lost our wifi and had no way to do anything. And obviously we couldn’t charge our phones, laptops or any devices so we had to save power in case of emergency. We couldn’t even open our fridges lol. The city eventually came and got the power back on but it took like 2.5 hours and about an hour of it was spent with our lights and electronics flickering on and off like we were being haunted by mildly annoying ghosts. First I thought of going to a cafe but the pandemic. Then I thought maybe I should take a walk/hike until the power comes back but the air quality happened to be TERRIBLE today from the fine dust and we even got emergency alerts warning us to stay indoors so I just stayed in my powerless, haunted apartment staring at shoes I can't quite afford. Modern life in Seoul y’all 😷

apple stans are really, really something else? literally no one needs a new phone or a new tablet every year, stop being so wasteful, damn. i'm looking at an older model and people are all WAIT FOR THE NEW ONE TO COME OUT, THERE'S A NEW CHIP and i'm thinking ummm i really don't think a regular user would actually be able to tell about how ~vast~ the improvements are, bc i'm sure they wouldn't be (the last one was just from last year!) so. stop? consumerism is a disease.

They are!!! I don't understand them, it's not like new Apple phones are suddenly changing the industry alltogether, I actually don't remember any incredible updates the last few years. But I agree that you might want to wait for the new model drop (if you are able to), Apple usually slow down their shipping of older models before a new product drop to create scarcity, and get back on a more regular schedule after. At least I've seen them do it with phones, not sure if it's as prevalent with tablets
