J9 Entertainment Confirms Sunn & YeAh Have Exited Cignature

On April 27, cignature’s management company J9 Entertainment announced the departure of members Ye Ah and Sunn from cignature through a post made on the group’s Twitter page.

cignature is a group that debuted in 2020 with their song “NUN NU NAN NA.”

The official statement reads as follows:


Hello,

This is J9 Entertainment.

The following announcement is regarding the cignature members Ye Ah and Sunn.

While preparing for cignature’s March comeback, Ye Ah and Sunn stated that they will no longer be active as cignature members. After consulting with Ye Ah, Sunn, and their parents, we terminated their exclusive contract without any conditions.

We sincerely apologize for delivering the sad news to fans waiting for cignature’s comeback. We are currently doing our best so that cignature can return with new music and performances.

We are sorry to have caused a disturbance with such sudden news. We ask that you continue to take interest in and show support for cignature.

Thank you.


The group will continue as a five-member group with Chaesol, Jee Won, Seline, Semi, and Belle.

WHO is going to cover yeah's parts? belle is probably the main vocalist now but i don't know if she can do it, god bless her... they might need to either find a new vocalist or just not perform their previous songs

Seline was at a vocal academy with Yeah/Haeun so I'm hoping this is finally going to be Seline's moment to get some shine, and she might get some parts. Belle and Jeewon definitely don't have the fullness of voice or stability to be a main vocalist :/

I wish good luck on all of them - the remaining members and the two who left, whether they want to try again as idols or move on to different activities. Personally I'm a bit sad because Sunn is the one who drew my eyes all the time during their performances, she would probably have been my bias if I had followed Cignature more closely. Also I'm sad that neither Good Day and Cignature worked out for them...
I really hope the company isn't giving up on Cignature, I'm still blasting ASSA (it's a weird song but I love it lmao) and I hope they'll be able to come back (I know they're talking about a comeback in the statement but I don't trust companies, I need teasers to believe it).

Haha it’s ok! They released ASSA (it’s called the ‘second debut song’ or whatever they claimed it was lol but really it’s a comeback) and Arisong.

I’m conflicted. I’ll still keep supporting cignature but I’ve already resigned to the idea that this group is just on borrowed time. Good Day didn’t work out, so I shouldn’t be surprised cignature is already having issues. I do think there is an issue with J9 if this a reoccurring problem. I’m very curious if anything happened, since being able to leave without any conditions seems really ideal? Like tooooo ideal haha, that’s why I’m assuming J9 knows they’re guilty or worried about something and just want to move on quickly (this is all speculation of course!!)

Sunn is really charming and fun to watch on stage. I do hope she’s done with being an idol and maybe pursues work as a dancer, choreographer, etc. I think she could do well on youtube/tiktok if she focuses on her dancing. Ye Ah I’ll definitely keep an eye out if she continues singing! But idk if I were them I’d probably be done with an idol.

Also Heejin had the right idea getting out of rejoining groups. Now she’s married and working as a songwriter, writing for popular artists. Good for her!

I’m also curious what the plan is because Ye Ah was the main vocalist. Though honestly cignature’s type of teen/girl crush songs didn’t showcase her skill as a main vocalist, so maybe it won’t be a big change. Still a shame though, but I’m curious which member will be prioritized the most for lines emphasizing good vocal work.

Ugggggggghhh this is so upsetting. Like it was stupid of me to not expect J9/C9 to drop the ball after how they did with Good Day (and not promoting them even after the girls appeared on The Unit) but still this just sucks. Their main dancer and main vocalist just gone. I hope the remaining members get a comeback soon and we don't have any more fuckery....but it seems foolish to hope. They aren't even putting out anything even REMOTELY concrete in terms of a comeback in this notification message.

Had Sunn debuted in a bigger group she'd be a fandom favourite as one of the best dancers of this gen, so major loss tbh, but I hope this means she goes into choreography/dancing professionally - iirc she choreographed all of Assa, I don't know if she had a hand in Arisong.
As others have said, there isn't really anyone who can cover Yeah/Haeun's parts so we'll see how that goes. I think this is Seline's moment to finally get some shine. There are other good vocalists in the group but none of them have the stability and power of a main vocal.
