Date: 2021-02-28 08:20 am (UTC)i'm surprised it wasn't just the usual 2 paragraph, copy/pasted "lol it's not true 🤷🏻♀️" statement. i know the bar is in the 7th circle of hell for these, but if they're actually trying to speak with these people, that's more than i expected them to do. i really hope pledis is taking this seriously.
i still feel 😐😐😐 about it but i guess we'll see what happens? 😶

Date: 2021-02-28 07:09 pm (UTC)I'd say it makes sense. I don't understand why jype doesn't translate considering the amount of English speaking idols they have and how they usually provide subs.

Date: 2021-02-28 08:41 am (UTC)this situation has been weighing heavily on my mind these past couple days. i'm too tired right now to lay out my thoughts in detail but if anyone frequents the seventeen subreddit, they might've seen me from time to time. i will probably come back later and write a more coherent comment.
the last 3 days have been a lot.

Date: 2021-02-28 10:18 am (UTC)I can't be partial because I think proving you've been bullied is just.. hard? like it's just words against words and in the end it's not about the truth, it's about who can come up with the best statement and the person who will be the most articulate... which often happens to be the person who has the best lawyers.
I'm also curious about how it works internally for all those scandals, like do the idols accused tell their company they're innocent? or if they're indeed guilty, do they tell the truth? It's been so weird to see how far some of these companies to cover up for one single member when they could just be kicked out and it would probably save them lots of effort? lol idk just rambling

Date: 2021-02-28 12:45 pm (UTC)it is nice to see companies defending their artist when we've seen a lot of instances where companies have just canceled contracts or put members in the dungeon at the first sign of trouble, but i agree that at some point (w certain cases) the trouble is not worth it, especially when someone is pretty clearly in the wrong.

Date: 2021-02-28 10:41 am (UTC)This entire scandal has been bringing up some deep seated trauma and I'm on the precipice of disassociating. K-Pop was a lot easier when I strayed from news articles, but music doesn't exist in a vacuum.

Date: 2021-02-28 12:53 pm (UTC)BUT.
I really wish bad things on false accusers. Not just because of the damage it does to those falsely accused, but because they are ruining so much for actual victims of bullying (or other things too lbr) trying to speak up. Now, every. fucking. time. we have to go through this song and dance of they said x but those others said y, what's the truth? It wastes everyone's time and ultimately silences victims.

Date: 2021-02-28 03:36 pm (UTC)With all these bullying issues, i hope that it's not going to be limited to companies doing background checks and witch hunts, but also for there to be stronger enforcements of laws and policies against this in schools because this is clearly not an isolated case.
