he was born in 2000, he could enlist in theory but I don't think that's what they'll do with him, it would be too obvious considering he's only 20. And I might be wrong but jype usually doesn't do the enlistment for a scandal thing?

If I were in JYP's PR team, I would make him volunteer in schools while in hiatus, do a few donations, and skip out Kingdom for the other members to get more spotlight (also since it's not a "proper" comeback). Maybe he would even grow meanwhile.
But I really don't see JYP dropping another member from this group as they're rising in popularity, especially not the one they've been pushing forward for several comebacks now.
I wonder how the members are feeling about it. I doubt they'll ever be able to address it though.

I'm on the fence about what they'll do. More than any agency JYPE pushes the necessity of good moral character so they might bench him for a bit and then let him go completely if he doesn't repent to the standards JYP is expecting.

exactly!! i was talking about kpop scandals in general with a friend that the 'reflection' phrase that you often read in these apologies are so empty. like, what are these artists concretely doing then? and we also came to the conclusion that next to taking time off, volunteering, donating and speaking out would be a good way for idols to express that they are reflecting and learning. but we never see that.

Sorry for the late reply! Yes that's something that keep on confusing me - does those companies really have PR teams? Who are the people in the PR teams? Do they all really think that hiding for a few months solve the issue?
Even just on a business point of view, having the idol volunteer can be later used as ~proof of change and growing up~ and would shield them from additional accusations unveiled from their past. Especially if they don't put out a statement to showcase the volunteering but instead tip the press to leak the information? I don't need a job right now lmao but just hire someone to do it?

Haha it's ok, I was busy this weekend and came back with nine unread messages lmao, I wanted to answer some!
We joked about graphic design departement but PR teams also seem to need more staff and so many fans have better ideas than these companies. I could write better apology letters than those we've seen recently (or ever? lmao) and I'm not even working in PR!!!

volunteering sounds like a good idea, but I hope it's not PR-ish in that he does it only for the camera and he does think about his actions. but will also be wary of the optics of using school students and them being possible idol fans.

even hearing from or having a discussion/conference an anti-bullying campaign/group would be good reflection follow up imo.

Sorry for the late reply :) I'm very cynical and I think these volunteering actions, IF they ever happen, would purely be PR moves from the companies' stand-point. But it would still better than nothing, there's a chance that volunteering change the idol and help people... and it at least sends a stronger message.
It really surprises me that it had never happen, what better way to improve your idol's image after bullying allegations? Why are kpop PR teams so... absent?

I think that’s the only way I’d be open to changing my mind, because going into ‘hiding’ while on hiatus doesn’t mean one is really reflecting it’s moreso they’re just laying low to get people off their back. I have very conflicted feelings regarding giving these idols second chances, especially when the accusations can be quite serious. People can change but it’s not easy to see that change in a genuine way. And just waiting for time to pass really ain’t good enough.

I have very conflicted feelings too. To be honest, I don't even care that much about Stray Kids or Hyunjin. But it still surprises me a lot that no PR departement have started to push alternative methods. Even just on a business stand point, it's so much better to turn a hiatus into volunteering. The person who hides and does nothing is still in the front row if new accusations emerge ; but someone who volunteered can appear as having changed. I really don't understand how kpop companies are run, not just as cultural actors, as businesses too

That's why I always have to rme every time I see that the idol is going to be "reflecting" on their actions. Like just laying low for a few months doesn't really mean much because you're hoping it would blow over. True reflection would involve making ammends and using your time to give back to show that you're trying to better yourself. Volunteering, going to councilling and making donations is an excellent way to start and show that you actually are trying to do something.

idt they ever made it public why he left JYPE. But I remember he was being accused of sexually harassing women at a bar last year and there was some questionable explanations about what happened on both sides. Idt anything happened further than a public apology?

iirc there was something about woojin being seen in hostess bars prior to being kicked out. when the sexual harassment allegations came out (after he was removed), chan mentioned that he had asked woojin multiple times to... just stop doing "something"?? but it was never mentioned what it was. the bullying was all just speculation from his behavior during their lives and felix being kind of shady on ig after he was kicked out.

I seriously hate how fans took the wrong translation of the statement that said the accusations are false and ran with it. Both jype and hyunjin basically admitted he was a shithead and they act as if he was the one wronged.

this is going to be interesting, since hyunjin is the face of skz by this point (i think since 2019 he's in the thumbnail of almost half?? of their videos, and the music show thumbnails act like skz has about 3 members total with hyunjin, chan and maybe felix lmao). woojin never got the attention hyunjin got, so getting rid of him isn't a huge deal, but hyunjin... well.

Let's not forget some years ago he had bullying rumors but they denied it and buried it, so this time his bullying rumors come back again but it got huge spotlight, now JYP decided to investigate it and says he feels sorry?

If he felt sorry, he would feel sorry the first time they talked about his bullying but they ignored it, now it came back right when he was hitting his popularity peak.
