IU Palette new season starts with SHINee , they all have so much memories together this became the longest episode of IU palette 😮



SHINee song choice wasnt just random, lets remember Dear name was the song IU choose to pay tribute to Jonghyun on her 2018 Tour. This was the firt and only time IU made an special arrangement with her own song and some other artist song.

This is the Dear name/End of the day arrangement IU performed at her 2018 tour (on december 15th few days before jjong death first anniversary)

This was a bit awkward since you could tell this is the first time they talked to each other for more than a few sentences, but so cute! IU is so sweet she had all of them flustered lol. Also poor Taemin he kept messing up and was the butt of lots of jokes😂

I pay attention to Key the most during interviews because he’s the most genuine imo, and this interview confirmed my suspicions that the album was rushed and that Key was unhappy.

@19:51 he says “I’ll just say this. You need a lot of time to make an album. That’s how I felt.”

He also yells “Code” without hesitation when asked for his favorite song and the reason he gives is that they spent the longest time working on the song and it turned out good, he also doesn’t let the members answer and says “everyone‘s favorite is Code” lmfao.

i see exactly the opposite, this is the most interactive & talkative she has behave in all her palette interviews (you call it awkward but as iu fan i tell you that's iu happy state, she's usually shy & dry) most iu palette episodes last like 20 minutes at most but this is the longest episode and iu actually seem to be having a good time

iu's trying to overcome her shyness but so far cute awkward is the best we can get from her 🙈

oh yes, i put some comtext .. because shinee performed a song iu dedicated to jjong in her first tour after his departure, i assume this awkwardness means they indeed talked about him at backstage

thats the big elephant in the room , feels like this weird vibes comes from trying to not talk about jjong despite him was their biggest conecction to iu

omg i didn’t even notice key’s unhappiness (?) with the comeback. it’s my first time following a shinee cb and although i was a casual listener, i don’t know their personalities

that blows bc i’m obsessed with the mini lol i liked it so much i might become a shawol. sure, the title track was a bit of a surprise lol but it’s p good anyways. heart attack n marry you are so good though 😭

I actually caught up with some of their interviews on insta and they were on a music show and were playing the “This or That” game and the host asked Key “Ring Ding Dong or Don’t Call Me” and he said “Lucifer!” 😂 and I read their rolling stone interview and Key said:

“I don’t think it’s a bad thing to take things that exist and recreate them rather than to strive to do new things. We want to take into account how the world evolves and changes to portray ourselves in a way that is familiar, but still unique. ”

Which imo translates to “why are we doing a 4th gen hep hap song, Our shinee style is good, don’t fix what isn’t broken”

He still owned this comeback though, even though DCM is clearly not his style, he’s really talented.

Hmmmm, I did see that Key had some misgivings about the album in the sense that they did not have a lot of time...I read somewhere that they werre supposed to include more songs but the others didn’t make it in time. But I did not get the sense that he was unhappy with the album? And there were a couple of interviews where Key said his fave was Heart Attack as it was representative of SHINee’s sound. It just felt like DCM was not his fave track but he understood that they had to go with a more impactful title track.

i loved the idea of covering eachother’s songs (i’ve never seen palette so i’m not sure if it happens in every ep).

Everyone saying they were awkward but everything was just really cute to me? lol
Like, yeah they are not bffs and SHINee was more contained than usual, but they seemed genuinely interested in what each other had to say and IU cracking up at their antics was super adorable! Plus, the performances were beautiful.

Also, no one has commented about it before, but to me the perceived "awkwardness" might come from the fact that she was very good friends with Jjong? They all lost someone incredibly dear to them and that probably was the only link they had, so I get that they might not really know how to act with each other in front of a camera, specially when they might not want to or can't speak about it.

Just wanna say, I love the shows they’re guesting in (here in Palette and the SBS show) for this album because they get to talk in depth about music and the process involved in producing the album.

Also I was surprised that they were not very close, obviously they had a connection with Jjong so I thought they’d at least hung out in private before. But I guess not.

I was SUPER surprised when I saw this appear on my IG feed! The segment where they sang each other's songs was great. IU covering SHINee? Yes, please! Her jazzy rendition of Sherlock was great.

Lmao at them always putting Onew on the spot and designating him as the spokesperson. lol when he said he wasn't good at speaking and IU was like "Well, you can sing instead" I was like LOLLLL. I couldn't really figure out Onew's expression when she said that though. He seemed kind of shocked/uncomfortable lol.

Taemin was such a messss lol. Between him ripping open his jacket, his side conversations with Onew, and forgetting what their song "Kind" was about...lol boyyy.

Aaah, I'm getting to this post so late...but I loved all of it. I never thought I could like anyone else's version of Sherlock (how do you improve on perfection?) until I heard IU sing it, then I was all YES MAMA! *fistpump*

I'm the last one in the typing pool to give Jinki a hard time about anything, but I found the whole "not good at speaking" thing a trifle disingenuous. You've been the leader and spokesman for this group since 2008--own it baby! Maybe he was just having a even-shyer-than-usual day?
