There was a boy who was generally popular and the center of the class. And the boy, whenever I wanted to voice my opinion in class, told me “What do you know? Stop acting out” and words of the
same tone. It happened every time I wanted to talk, and so I talked less and less in the hakwon. Later, I ended up not talking at all.

Also, the boy made sexual jokes when I was present like it wasn’t a big deal.
Even to the point where he made them when my teachers were there
and the teachers told him to stop since there is a girl. After that, he made les of those jokes with teachers, but he didn’t change when the teachers were gone. He usually make jokes in break time or self study time. He made them a lot in general too.

as someone who's been a seventeen fan since debut, i really have no words. if he cares about the group at all, he should leave because there is no way he'll recover from this unless they somehow manage to prove all the accusations wrong.
i'm devastated. no clue what's gonna happen from this point forward but if pledis tries to sweep this under the rug like they did with baekho and have the group continue on as usual, i'm not sure i could continue supporting them.

regardless of how this turns out, i seriously hope any and all victims have good support systems. :(

However, you have to actually show remorse, apologize and make reparations for that to work. And the victim is 100% free to accept it or not.
Considering no accusations from more recently have popped out (yet), and how middle school students easily go the edgelord route which culminates into bullying, but are capable of becoming adults who don’t engage in this kind of behavior, I’ll hold my judgement on his complete erasure. It will depend on how he deals with this mess, and if other more recent accusations pop out.

I’ve had an elementary school kid say “I hate terrorists” in clear English, while explaining why he drew a bloody person in a headscarf with a headband. I’ve had whole classes laugh when I showed them pictures of famous black actors from Brazil. Not one, not two, every single class I taught in different schools for more than 5 years laughed at exactly the same moment in that class, at a normal profile picture.
These are just some examples, but I just cannot blame just the kids for these actions, specially because they did change their attitude after I confronted their prejudices. This is a social issue, and they have to learn this kind of behavior from someone or somewhere.
While not all kinds of bullying are exactly the same as those examples, the kind of bullying that is endemic in Japan and Korea does seem to be very close related to the hierarchical and group-based aspects of those societies.
I definitely want to read more about that, but I do think that it’s not all just the kids’ fault. And even if it is, it’s on us adults to teach them how to be better.

Unless Pledis have solid proof that everything is false (and is thus taking a long time), the fact that it’s been nearly half a day and near the end of business hours without a peep is pretty much confirming the worst for me.
Their variety is due to return in less than a week with probably already 2-3 months of content pre-filmed, their potential chicken endorsement, they have a magazine coming out with literally his face on the one of the covers...it’s going to be a shitshow
Interestingly enough, I thought it was strange there was zero noises from the Japanese fans about it considering there’s a meet and greet and fansign THIS weekend (27th and 28th) and only after looking into it did I find that there’s only one person translating all the accusations of various idols and their translation of mingyu’s only have under 20 RTs and 60 or so likes so fans weren’t even burying it or anything, it genuinely just didn’t pick up traction there...how vastly different and jarring to think about considering if you spoke English and even follow this one or two kpop related accounts you would most definitely have heard about it.
(edit : oof they postponed it, fans looking for reasons why is definitely going to catch on now and their silence till 5pm kst is pretty much nail on the coffin here...)
However this pans out I hope the victim(s)? :( get the apologies and support they deserve.

i think this is also one of the reasons why it's hard to be in a group, especially one this large. if one fucks up the rest of them will suffer tremendously
i really hope he will apologize to the victim, nothing will ever give them back the time they suffered and felt alone, but i do hope that person at least gets an apology. it must have been so hard on them. i'm wishing them all the best honestly
