EXO’s Chanyeol has expressed his feelings in his first letter to fans EXO-L since a controversy four months ago when accusations were made about his personal life.

On February 24, Chanyeol shared a post on EXO’s fan community. He mentions receiving letters from fans on his November 27 birthday and also being congratulated on the ninth anniversary of the day he was revealed as a member of EXO, which was on February 23, 2012.

His letter is as follows:


"Hello. This is Chanyeol.

I’m writing to EXO-L for the first time in a while.

First of all, I wanted to say that I’m sorry for causing concern to EXO-L, who have waited a long time.

I’ve felt so truly sorry that I couldn’t express it in writing and I thought a lot about EXO-L during that time. I worried and thought a lot about how I could express my feelings to EXO-L in words.

I was so grateful for the posts and letters of support you sent me on my birthday. As I read each of them, I felt even more sorry and grateful.

I thought a lot about how I can protect the precious hearts of EXO-L and how I can make it up to you as well, and I reflected on how I will not cause you worry again.

Also, I will do my best to make it clear that you were not wrong to believe in me. It’s a day later, but I once again sincerely thank all those who always remembered my first start.. and now that time has passed, congratulated me on my ninth anniversary.

I also remember and will never forget my start, nine years ago. I won’t forget my mindset from that time.

I will definitely protect all the generous love that you’ve sent me. EXO-L, please always stay healthy. Thank you."

The tried and true old recipe of adding a dash of “am sorry to worry you” with a touch of “am reflecting (but never specifically name what it is they’re reflecting on” then topping it all off with “am always thankful” and BAM! an instant classic of doing the least to pacify one’s fanbase.
