Between the low budgetness of the mv, the 'gimme uncontrolable trauma' and 'dead clowns', I had to pause halfway through because I could not stop laughing
I always wonder if they're serious about liking their music or not but at the same time I think 'Would it be possible to stan them if they hated most of their music?". I mean you can pretend for some time but not for years.
I always feel bad for this group, can't imagine how it feels to practice your choreo or sing one of those songs over and over again, I'd end up with migraine.
this is the most low budget NCT MV for a title track they've ever done. the editor really was doing all the heavy lifting on this one and it didn't look like they had much to work with.
I don't understand how he trained for years and I'm sure he took classes in the U S. too and seems so amateur? He has the personality, which is great for the group, but I don't get why he isn't better? Or maybe people really can only improve so much.... But then what did they see when they cast him as a kid?

some people do have their limits no matter what training you give them but in his case i think its one of those they have a rabid fanbase already so why try scenarios. if you had thousands and thousands of people going mental over you for doing the most basic lower than average performances you probably wouldnt see the need to improve.

I guess I expect that of he has passion enough to have stuck it out for years that he must want to improve still. But maybe he really can't anymore and chooses to focus on other things. most idols i don't like i usually have at least half a reason to justify it but with johnny i just hate him lmao hes literally never done anything questionable that i know of but i just get angry when i see his face he has such an annoying greasy vibe and when people say he's sexy i feel ill at just the idea of finding him sexy. i think he must remind me of someone in my past who i hate or something because i dont know where this hatred came from but it's very real when i went to see nct127 he did 90% of the talking too during the concert i felt very hard done by he was not who i was there to see
true but some idols really do just fall into the job like being casted in the street for being handsome, shinwon from pentagon i think is a good example he was cast for that reason and basically admitted at some point that he wanted to be an idol because he liked the members so much and his love of music came later. not all of them are super passionate to begin with and i think you see a lot of idols lose their passion after the 3/4 year mark sometimes, not surprising considering how some companies treat their artists, and seem to just want to ride out their contract. and some just want to be famous rather than specifically an idol which to me seems about right for johnny tbh.

afaik he only trained during the summers so his long training period was equal to only a couple years in terms of length and I'm sure some of that was playing catch up to the people who trained year long in SK.
I don't see why he we're assuming he didn't take classes in the U.S., plus he was supposedly in choir in U.S. high school. And he was in Korea for time enough at one point to decide he didn't want to stay in high school there. If we do want to count his years as only a few, he still seems at a lower level than people who only trained a few years. I am under the impression a lot of nct only had a few years. (Admittedly I don't have a good grasp of his singing ability but his lines are often not to my taste. Could be his sound though.)
So I go back to maybe there is a talent ceiling at work, and his is on the lower idol end, or he works less hard.
I just meant that his time in the SM training system wasn't as much as people claim it to be just because it was spread out over years vs concentrated, people hold that as a kind of merit badge for him proving his talent. He really is a product of them needing native english speakers and him doing just enough to get through in the other categories. They debuted him as a fake edm dj because his trainee contract was expiring lol he's smart in that he does use that to his advantage to get himself more fans and worked on rapping enough to get him more parts. but he's like winwin imo

I love the song. And this video? I almost had a heart attack when I saw johnny, who I noticed had a lot more screen time. Like they did not have put their foot on my neck like that.
Edit: Okay. I listened to it one more time. It is a bit mediocre, they can do better. I'm not sure what direction it is they're trying to steer the group but they need to get it together. I do love the visuals and johnny. Sorry, can't help it, I just like him. I like mark and taeyong too but I agree they're in our faces way too often. Either way it's just music, they could do better but I'mma still listen to it.
