Date: 2021-02-12 08:57 am (UTC)This week was ugh, so I want to share some of the cute/fun things I saw this week (or re-visited), hope you enjoy one or more or that it distracts you a little if you need it ♥
I'm obsessed lately with watching pandas eat! I somehow find the chewing so relaxing and just look at all the crumbs on his belly ♥
This (https://www.thedodo.com/close-to-home/dog-buys-treats-using-leaf) article about a dog buying treats using a leaf is absolutely adorable!
i love it so much when men do dance covers of female artists~
They put so much effort into it, I can't stop replaying it.
Chungha's Stay Tonight is also my most played kpop song this week~ What a fantastic song
i hope they all workTake good care everyone ♥RE: I came prepared ✨

My law firm and lawyer friends have spent days with that cat filter and it's still not old. I was blessed to introduce it to my family during family video-dinner and to see my mom and grandma cry with laughter. I luff it. Luff it. Beyond love it.

Date: 2021-02-12 11:08 am (UTC)The cat zoom filter had me crying of laughter when I saw it. The way the eyes move before the lawyer starts speaking, the guy on the left corner putting his glasses to check (does that mean he hadn't notice the filter before? how???), the softly spoken "I am not a cat" lmaoooo pure gold. I hope it does happen to someone else in one of my many zoom meetings. I need this kind of stuff in my life XD

Date: 2021-02-12 10:31 am (UTC)Looking up stuff for idols like Soyou was hard though, tumblr stuff for her isn’t very active. I was expecting more content related to her comeback but I was struggling which was a shame since she looked great! Maybe I’ll try Twitter or Reddit next time. I did some google image searches which is always last resort, it feels icky going over there lol
But the campaigning really does help, like I was introduced to super fit Lee Si Young. I never knew her before but now I’m like lemme learn more about her!!

Date: 2021-02-12 09:03 am (UTC)My French co-worker on my new project is the worst. yeah, I am being inflammatory, French ladies. But, seriously, he has one of the worst cases of over-doing it, mansplaining, white boy expert syndrome that I have seen in ages. He's nice, and he's indicated some knowledge of white boy privilege but also, JESUS, he lives like those ideas made no impact.
I'm ready to choke his condescending self. I can't tell if the patronizing condescension is inadvertent, or part of posturing for higher ups, because one-on-one he is .... better. I am inclined to think he's playing to the bosses which makes me want to stab. I keep reminding myself I plan to leave in a few months and so let him publicly treat me like I'm simple but it's soooooo haaaaaaaarrrrrrd.
Also, Mr. Frenchy complains that Americans can't pronounce his name, but dude: You can't be bothered to remember to pronounce my name correctly, and it's simple to say in both our languages!
I find I start to spin out if I don't have female friends in proximity Male friends aren't enough. Is this because of me? because of them? my personality? Being pretty? Being uncomfortable with men? Or just ... gender relations? I think it's a me problem, related to my thoughts/actions.
What do you call an ox with a big butt? Buttocks

From:Please rec your Fave/Iconic kpop songs! ❤
Date: 2021-02-12 09:12 am (UTC)So after liking kpop for a decade, my sister finally has started to listen to it too. She has let me go ham on making a Kpop playlist featuring any iconic song or just any songs I like. I've gotten some so far, but i'd love for some help! <3
Please, if you think of a song that HAS to be on every Kpop Playlist, reply to me what you recommend!
This can be a kpop song from ANY year! From the very early days to as recent as 2021; as long as its iconic/good!
Kpop-adjacent songs are welcome too - like ballads, rap, r&b, indie!
I just wanna give her a taste of what she's missed and get her up to date on kpop.
Thank you so much if you do reply <3

Date: 2021-02-12 09:24 am (UTC)i had to see my NP because the skin on one of my toes has been dry, cracked, and stupidly itchy. it seemed to be okay for a few weeks but now most of the skin has peeled off. 😨 she told me it looked like it was fungal, so i got topical and oral anti-fungal medication.
and now i've been hit by the genetic hypertension truck. 😭 my BP was usually good but it's kinda gone to shit within the last year. she prescribed low dose hydrochlorothiazide so hopefully that'll be enough to keep it in check. i hate how my body functions!! 👏🏻
mentally... i'm just feeling lonely these days, lol. i've felt that way for years; the pandemic has made it worse. which doesn't even make sense to me! it's not like i've ever had friends i could actually hang out with anyway. 💀
anyway, i hope everyone has a good weekend. and treat yourself for valentine's day!!

i think you should get that plush, i bought a huge plush dog from ikea months ago because of loneliness and yeah it's not the same but sometimes you just want to wrap your arms around something soft (does this make sense?) so i suggest you get that cute plush
i plan on baking my family heart-shaped cookies with a nice icing for valentine's day

Date: 2021-02-12 10:14 am (UTC)A girl had written a, in my and other's opinion, a very good and funny satirical text about God (I even commented that it reminded me of Terry Practhett and this girl was taken by this). Then the teacher when it's her turn suddenly says don't write like this again, but didn't give any explanation why, we all asked why and then she said it's a Therapeutic Text that doesn't belong in creative writing class. She'd also said that don't write like this bc someone might get offended, but no one had (except one lady who'd described it as "heavy", even tho everyone else described it as lighthearted and funny, and that's what the writer had intended). With this text the teacher hadn't given sufficient explanation to her bizarre comment so we wanted her to elaborate, and the situation escalated (and in my opinion he teacher's reaction to the conversation was what escalated it).
In her opinion we "forced" her to admit that this text is derived from something "heavy" in th writer's past (when we didn't understand what a Therapeutic Text is, and that isn't all creative writing therapeutic in a sense) And since something in this text is being "handled in a therapeutic way" she has no authority to comment on it. Note that this was after everyone else's positive comments (except this one middle-aged lady, same age as the teacher I'd guess by the voice (we didn't have cameras) and they knew each other from a previous writing course.) This lady also "didn't understand poetry" and for that reason could never give any feedback to me on my poems. Go figure... (also note that everyone were adults here, me being in my mid-20s clearly the youngest one)
The teacher said that she can "read between the lines" that there's something heavy going on (the writer herself didn't understand this and was confused), in some point of the conversation when everyone was baffled by all of this and didn't understand teacher at all, the teacher went on defense and said "we'll now you're all blaming me" bc me were arguing against her and telling our own viewpoints and wanted to have a clear explanation to what a Therapeutic Text is.
Everyone did apologize and stated that they def didn't mean to blame anyone or offend anyone, teacher remained on the defense, even tho she said "well I'm not hurt" but still continued imo to talk very passive-aggressively, based on her words, like how she continued to say we were "blaming/accusing" her and did also at one point say after the break that "now You Will all explain to me why you're blaming mean acting like I can't have an opinion on things). (oh and also later on commented on my text like "see THIS is creative writing", which to me sounds... passive-aggressive).
At one point I genuinely felt as if my words had made her upset (said something like "but everyone liked the text, well except for one person and the teacher, but then again everyone has different opinions so idk" after which she started saying we were blaming her so I was like oh shit, and also something like "in no way did I mean to undermine the teacher's professional ability" after which she mentioned how we're attacking her professional ability and I was like nooooo) & started feeling guilty so I wrote clearly in the group chat (visible to all and her) that I was sorry, didn't mean to accuse anyone, and just got a little in my feelings trying to defend this girl, and that what I said was expressed poorly, I'm sorry. Note that this and all other apologies were ignored by the teacher.

Date: 2021-02-12 10:15 am (UTC)By the end the teacher was like "well now I have to be VERY CAREFUL to give feedback if this is the response, idk if I can give honest feedback, in my 10years(?) as a teacher I've never seen anything like this" (umm can a teacher just withhold teaching us when that's what we're paying her to do?)
This space we're holding the class isn't Zoom, it's some other system that doesn't allow private DM so I/the class can't talk with this girl without the teacher present, so idk this convo was ever really settled, just ended. The girl felt very dejected at some point and even expressed that she doesn't know if she can continue anymore and would maybe be afraid to write like this anymore, or at all, if ppl were gonna analyze these weird meanings to the text that weren't there.
Also I kind hate that one lady in the class too now, she literally at one point said "I can hear a martyr, let's be adults" in reply to after the girl talked. WTF who tf are you to say that?? & girl was trying to reconcile! She was also displeased at how serious everyone was and that she was the only one writing "funny" stories.
I talked about this with my family and I did privately send the text to my mom and aunt (aunt has been writing for over 10years and gone on writing courses for almost as long) and they both loved it, thought it was very skilled satirical writing, and understood the style of writing it was emulating.
Oh and the teacher said later on when we've moved on & talked something else that she Never Questioned her teacher who taught her writing, & that was good, bc that teacher knew what they were talking about. Might have a correlation, might not... but it kinda made me understand her reaction a bit better. Still I think as a teacher, esp in creative writing, she should expect that ppl are gonna wanna discuss things, and what to hear explanations to why you feel a certain way, we rarely just accept statements at face-value without it being explained to us right? and I think we all were level-headed but the teacher seemed as if she took it personally (which is Super Ironic bc the teacher had actually previously talked how careful she is in giving feedback & that we never give feedback on the writer, only the text, some ppl might be very sensitive to opinions of their text & it might discourage them in the future & then she goes & acts like this).
And the fact that she didn't even acknowledge our apologies or try to de-escalate the conversation, but instead kept stubbornly by her opinion without even wanting to explain it further initially, only explaining after a while, but lacing it with accusing tones. Like sometimes ppl say things they don't mean and ppl get hurt, you can't control that, what you can control is what you do after the fact, and how you reconcile, and I think it was her refusal to reconcile that escalated the whole argument. And she's the teacher!

Date: 2021-02-12 10:24 am (UTC)I watched ton of documentaries this week and decided I would start listing them as well as I do movies. These are all on US Prime (thanks to a VPN)
(also funny coz I had like cancelled my Prime subscription and even had a Real Person on Amazon do it for me bc I couldn't find where to do it (very confusing settings on Amazon), and then I find out this week I still have it? It's been over a month since I cancelled it... well, for now I still find use for it but also kinda concerning lol?
And if anyone has any rec of docs in a similar vein as these, do tell.

Date: 2021-02-12 01:19 pm (UTC)Have I missed anything in Kpop?? Like music releases? Last thing I checked was Dreamcatcher's mini.
The training went amazingly well, our first teacher (for two days out of three) was really nice. He's from the same region I am and he kept using examples from our region (including one example made by someone I know for a place I used to work for) which made things extra-fun for me. The second teacher was less fun but very interesting so it made up for the different vibe of the day. In the end, really interesting training, perfectly tailored for my day-to-day job and I'm so glad we were able to hold it in real life/with all 10 of us in the same room (with proper distancing of course). It felt like "normal times" except we were all sitting far away from each others and wearing masks, I feel like I had more socialization in three days than I had in months.
Also I ended up sitting EXACTLY IN FRONT of Hot Work Guy for the whole three days and let me tell you this was a liiiiittle distracting lmao. Especially when we had to do an exercice together and he just stared at me so intensely lmao. I never hold up direct eye contact with someone else, unless I'm actively reminding myself look at them in the eyes, thank god I had my mask on because I was blushing so much. Nothing else happened though.
Then the weekend went by and being isolated for two days after having been with 10 persons I know for three days was rough. Seriously felt like backlash. I was miserable. It's been better this week, as I've been alternating remote working days with office working days (though not meeting as much people), and I think this weekend will be better (as it will be less of a drastic transition) but wow. Did not expect that. I'm seeing my psy again in 8 days, I can't wait.
My parents are planning their summer holidays, I'm invited to join them along the way if I can. I really hope we can make it work! They're very hopeful about the vaccines even though my grandma is still NOT vaccinated (ffs seriously)
Hope everyone had nice weeks, and a nice upcoming weekend <3

i can imagine it must have been tough meeting so many people and then suddenly being by yourself again. good that you've got an appointment with your therapist, but i'm also hoping this weekend will be happier for you.
oooh summer holidays! where are they/you planning to go?
european vaccination campaigns feel soooo messy, i'm so confused by our national governments knowing that this was coming up and being so slow about it when push comes to shove

Also had Rebecca Black’s Friday (Remix) (https://youtu.be/iCFOcqsnc9Y). I think her owning that she has a song that was the biggest joke and now transformed it into a PC music song ahhhh I love it! (If you don’t like PC music or hyperpop I do not recommend 😅)
Can’t wait for Yerin’s remixes too! But god this February is so damn dry music wise. Luckily ChungHa is here Monday, hopefully she delivers. Oh and Sunmi!! Hopefully later in February is better for music.

Date: 2021-02-12 08:36 pm (UTC)work has been pretty annoying (and boring) these past few weeks. and my manager isn’t really helping. she’s fallen back into her habit of letting the newbies do all of her work but because they, understandably, don’t know how to do everything yet it all falls on me 😫. and as much as everyone keeps complaining about her lazy ass we can’t do anything cause she’s really close to our boss. that’s def one of the reasons i’m trying to find a different job but this pandemic is making it exceptionally hard.
I’ve been watching start up these days and i totally get the hype! it’s actually my first time watching suzy as an actress but i’m really enjoying it!

Date: 2021-02-12 11:32 pm (UTC)I'm really enjoying all the Lunar New Year events on the chinese/japanese games I play, so many things to do and so little time tho. The one on Genshin Impact is really good, the chinese inspired region of the game is building a lantern festival that will probably be finished in a couple of days. The game manages to look really pretty some times, and all the lit up lanters in the night sky is a gorgeous view:
