aespa just became the new ambassadors for the French luxury House of Givenchy. They're joining Ariana Grande (remember that huge puffy grey dress she wore for the 2020 Grammy Awards?). This is the first time K-Pop artists become ambassadors for Givenchy. Recently the house dressed The Weeknd for his Super Bowl performance. Hubert de Givenchy is well known for his friendship with actress and icon Audrey Hepburn. She was (and still is to be honest) the house's biggest muse from the 50's until her death in 1993. He dressed her on screen (the iconic black dress in "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "Sabrina") and for events (the white floral dress she wore when she won an Oscar for "Roman Holiday").

Hmmm...I know the picture isn't important but I am going to talk about it anyway.

The wet hair look is never cute...it doesn't work the way they think it does. That picture is cute. I've already said this but Karina really does not have to try. She's very pretty, and while that isn't all there is to her, I can see her face just being on billboards and random ads. The only thing I have to comment on is when I see a full length gown I want drama and glamour. She's not that kind of girl. However NingNing is, and I appreciate that. I feel like Wynter needs accessories (bracelets and bangles). The ponytail was a great idea but again the wet look and the whispy ass hairs in the front. SLEEK IT BACK. Giselle...

Hopefully this means that when they do red carpets, their outfits won't look like it was made at a costume shop. I know that their first red carpet was...not well received, however I do appreciate how not costume they looked. In K pop, especially with big groups, it can be hard to find a fit that doesn't look like you got it out of Party City.

As for the Forever performances: cute. Thank Jesus, Mary AND Joseph they did not wear them UGLY outfits from the video. The sit down choreo was a choice. Probably should have done headsets if they were going to do that whole switching between parts. Some of those transitions were not smooth. On a positive note NingNing managed to tweak that run a bit and it sounds less bad. Now if they could do a radio show and sing it live...that would be great.

the "Giselle..." took me out LMAOO
I agree with everything you said about the picture tbh. I think Winter's pose makes it more dynamic and has my eye focusing on her more, but I'd like to see her and NingNing in an editorial magazine.

Listen we like Giselle but Giselle is very much...there sometimes. At least she has a little flavor here. Wynter absolutely had the best pose. It also helps that her entire white/light-colored outfit is smackdab between the two dark colored/black outfits.

Thank you for calling out the wet hair look, I’ve never understood how it looks good lol

I think it's suposed to make you look "sleek", but that's not what it gives most of the time. Wet hair only looks good in the context of water (ie: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/90/After_The_Storm_album_art.jpg). Anything else makes you look oily and dirty.

I think Ning Ning has the best face in the group and the most versatile. Like, she could pull off glamour the same way this wet hair and mullet ish hair kind of gives glamour punk/goth vibes. Karina looks way too prim, proper and manufactured, there's not character to her look (even though she is pretty but I still don't see what the fuss is about tbh).

Are they big enough to get endorsements or is this SM power? Thanks for the tidbit about these luxury brands OP, would never know if not for you tbh.

I like their tones here, but would love for them to be on radio or sing live though. Karina’s tone is the most pleasing to me, and she kinda sounds like BoA? The runs are so YYJ though which makes it a little too over, otherwise it’s actually a nice ballad to listen to

I mean, Aeapa's only given us one mildly generic song and a belated Christmas themed cover so this is definitely SM power but good for them.

definitely SM. I cant imagine a rookie group outside of the Big 4 getting an opportunity like this

i can't really celebrate this as an accomplishment because it's pure SM privilege. the girls have 2 songs out... guess they're going the way of blackpink?

(well, i'm too anticapitalist to celebrate things like this anyway, but i feel like i'd be at least a little more impressed if they had earned this in some way.)

IA. getting big brand deals is the norm for SM and YG since they already have those connections.

yeah... i was like, really? them? what did they even do for this? i think it's really weird tbh when you have other more established girl groups already there with bigger fandoms

My exact thought. "Oh....SM's Blackpink."

it's not flattering for them, and BP actually shows way more charisma and fun than them, which is sad considering they're almost the same age as BP when they started out

I want to give them the benefit of the doubt. We haven't seen very much of them. They are still very much noobies. I also want to say that perfection to the point of restraint is an SM thing. There hasn't really been a bouncing around/having fun song yet. I want them to get something like SNSD Party to see their fun side (ohhhh a cover would be nice! better than this boring ballad cover).

I’m just ehh on the fits. Like the one girl in the camel colored dress with chains? the proportions of the dress do not look good on her. sometimes you can pull off big with couture but this is not that. The shoes also look too big on her. Overall it looks like the clothes are wearing the girls.

I felt so uncomfortable watching a bit of that performance where they are sitting down and wearing white outfits with super short skirts, they are all placing a hand over their lap.

Besides the casual wear, I feel like they don’t fit the brand.

I dont follow this group after seeing their generic debut song and weird AI member.... what happened to her? did SM realize the CGI was too expensive?

there are 4 "AI members" but they're really just digital avatars of the 4 real members. which look nothing like them. they are in the group's second MV too, but not very much.

SM give the Aespa girls their own concept because BP has already a stranglehold
on the high-end teen girl concept
