Why must quilted vests be a thing. They make me so annoyed (probably irrationaly so).
For what weather are they good for? They must have a purpose, but I’m missing it.

They're good when you ride a horse, they're thin so you can wear them under a jacket when the weather changes and you don't want to wear a big sweater as it's not always comfy when riding!
That is my knowledge on both quilted vests and horses. I live next to an equestrian centre and I see my share of quilted vests.

But in real life, no idea why you would want to wear this. It screams old lady who owns a castle.

See! This makes sense and I do think I’ve seen it worn in like “equestrian fashion” magazines that I looked in as a child when I desperately wanted to be a horse girl, but was kept restrained by my mother’s allergies and our meagre financial situation.

In real life I’ve only seen it worn by preppy looking guys in weather that was far to hot for it to have been practical.

I was sent an email from a store where they were advertising quilted vests this morning and then this shoot and it became too much! They were everywhere (two places, I like hyperbole).
