Oh it’s more so just personal taste. I find her just pretty try hard, like Hwasa or Jessi I guess is a decent comparison? Something about her I’m just not a big fan. It doesn’t help that I haven’t loved a release of hers since Roll Deep (or Cause I’m God Girl??? Spotify has it listed as that. But I know it as Roll Deep). So I haven’t liked a song of hers in 5 years.

She did something culturally offensive back in an old song (Red) but I can acknowledge that it was Cube and the producers behind it, I doubt HyunA had a say plus I haven’t seen her do anything since then. But even then idk just not a big fan of hers, I liked her more when I was younger when her style was more appealing (though I mean I still like tacky and gaudy as I’m feeling these teasers lol). I just moved on.

Yep! I’m neutral about her as a person, I think how she left Cube was cool. But I’m not into her music much anymore, I think it got stale.

I can totally understand this. I liked Flower Shower but her other releases haven't really been my cup of tea (I dislike the gaudy over the top-ness). but I recognize her as a great performer and I know that she puts on a persona as an idol. She also knows what sells unfortunately and aims to put out what people want from her which I hate. Back in the day she did variety shows more which showed her her more endearing side and that's why I like her and continue to pay attention to her. It's funny you mention Jessi and Hwasa because I don't really like either of them despite the similarities with Hyuna. But then again, I have more of a history with Hyuna than with the other ladies so I'm more willing to give Hyuna the benefit of the doubt on try-hard. haha!

Red had some good parts but I only watched the MV maybe...twice? Other than that I just listened to the song. I wants to put most of that blame on Cube.

Oh if I had to chose between those 3 ladies I’d chose Hyuna lol I don’t care for Jessi or Hwasa at all. I was just looking at an old Jessi post and I was trying to be nice that I didn’t like it but wanted to give her a chance..now I’m like whatever I don’t like her lol. At least Hyuna has some songs I like.

The MV is typical cultural appropriation mess that would fit in right with that NCT music video from last year lol. But even though it’s stereotypical it’s more the stage I have an issue with. It’s like Boombayah (I think that’s the song I’m remembering correctly) they have the sample of ululation and then you see on stage Hyuna do this move mimicking the Native American stereotype. It’s like T-ara Yayaya 2.0. Just really unnecessary in general.

i agree. Shes tryhard, her shtick is always the same (Roll deep went off tho IA lmao), and i dont think she comes off naturally sexy to me. Its very Hwasa/Jessi. I also dont like her nasal voice.

But she def has charisma so I can see why shes still popular. Idk her thing just got old for me

I think that’s a good point about natural sexiness. There’s other idols that come to mind for me. Hyuna’s sexiness always comes off forced to me but I do think it has to do with being pushed on her early in her career and it’s probably her comfort zone.
