Date: 2021-01-14 04:08 am (UTC)B2ST lost Hyunseung before they become Highlight and while insanely successful in Korea they did not have the amount of international support GOT7 has. That's a fact that many are overlooking and they shouldn't because 4-5 years can change the playing field by a lot.
SNSD has more international success as the OG GG but lost Jessica and then had members remain in SM and others sign on to other companies. Many of their members wanted to pursue acting instead of music, and even when Tiffany DID pursue music she was witch-hunted for a very human mistake and left for the USA. They did try their best to comeback even if it was a unit and I think the effort is worth noting because even arranging that is hard.
Shinhwa was simply another generation and cannot be used as comparison because the music industry has changed due to social media and platforms like Spotify and SoundCloud.
None of the formers groups had a flagship member like Jackson either, who is the most successful member but also his own damn CEO. Team Wang is HIS. He controls his schedule and the fact that he's been juggling a booming solo career in China along with TWO group comebacks per year for 3 years now speaks of his commitment to the group and the members. Taeyeon adores SNSD but she is first and foremost an artist under SM. Jackson will not be.
No other group has had a member has musically involved as Jaebeom either. I don't think people realize the amount of connections this guy has built over the years. Offshore started as a small underground crew but while it's unofficial JB is collecting promising underground musicians in the Korean industry like Jackson is collecting endorsements. Yes, they are free agents but the networking is... insane.
So while I understand why people are skeptical (because many groups have said they want to stay together and have not) this is unique situation and should be presented as such instead of being written off as "delusion".
