IU Releasing Full Album Soon, Pre Release Single Coming January 27th

On January 11, IU’s agency EDAM Entertainment officially announced, “IU is currently in the midst of preparations for her fifth full-length album, and she will be pre-releasing one song from that album on January 27.”

Describing IU’s pre-release track, the agency stated, “[The song] has a bright and cheerful pop sound that can energize those listening to it. It’s a genre of music that IU is trying for the first time.”

Just two days ago, IU thrilled fans by sharing that she was preparing to release a new album during her Daesang (Grand Prize) acceptance speech at the 35th Golden Disc Awards, then hinting that she planned to drop a pre-release track before the end of January.

IU’s upcoming album will mark her first full-length album in over three years: the singer last released a full-length album in 2017, when she dropped her fourth studio album “Palette.”

Haha yess. When I first heard the song, I was like "This doesn't sound like an IU song..." and then realized it was on the flower bookmark album. I just watched Reply 1988 for the first time last year and it made me tear up so much...

I'm still SOOO FRUSTRATED with the ending. Like. No no no. that WAS NOT who she was meant to end up with. UGH. She acted more as his MOTHER than his girlfriend and it was unsettling. Your wife/girlfriend should not be your mother. The....other love interest....made sense. they were more or less equal and their personalities were opposite and yet together they made sense. I will not forgive the franchise for this! (sorry, I don't have anyone to share this stuff with so you're getting it)


It reminded me of how much I hated Reply 1994 ending. Just because viewers perform....what did she call him? Trash? then the script was re-written. So frustrating.

I agree!! Taek also wasn't really in a lot of scenes until a few episodes in. I felt so bad for the other guy and definitely liked him more. Taek was like a child. I wonder if they rewrote who she was supposed to end up with as well?? At least Hyeri and the other guy are together IRL lol.

I haven't watched Reply 1994 and don't think I will. I can't get over Go Ara's hair/styling. I still like Reply 1997 the best! Maybe because I can relate to it the most and the fangirling stuff made me lol.

He was a child. Even in the future adult scenes, he was childish. Like, he was a fun quirky character but I didn't see him as a love interest AT ALL. I'm guessing it was re-written because everyone loves Bo Geum the actor (also, his eyes are "bigger" than the other actor and I can't help but think it was a aesthetic thing). The other guy (I can't remember his name) had such a depressing storyline at the end. He just ends up alone and sad. Like, maybe they were trying to make it realistic. But it's a drama. Give me my happy ending!

And Hyeri's with the other guy? Nice!

The writing for Go Ara's character was also so...ugh. She went from fierce and feisty to meek and just no. It's been years since I watched but I was disappointed. I feel I should watched Reply 1997 again. I love it at the time and I expect I would still love it (as the history makes more sense to me).

Yeah, their relationship just felt very platonic. I mean...I GUESS you can justify them being a good fit by saying they're both very simpleminded people...especially when Deok Sun was younger, but she definitely matured as she grew up and I feel like Taek didn't progress too much. IDK. Yeah, I definitely feel like the writer switched who was going to be end game because it was too obvious or they wanted to trick everyone. lol I couldn't remember the other guy's name either so I had to look it up since I felt bad for continuously calling him the other guy -- Jung Hwan is the character's name. I felt so bad for him in that scene where he's driving to Deok Sun and is narrating about how love is all about timing.

I rewatched Reply 1997 like a year or two ago and it still held up well. I actually forgot that the episodes in the first half of the drama were so short!

platonic is the word for it. Nothing about their relationship hinted at ANYTHING romantic to me. Again, I kept getting mom/son vibes which was not good. I feel like like the writers really switched it just for an ah-ha moment or something. but it didn't actually make sense. It has been like...well over a year since I watched. haha! so forgetting names is normal. And yes. that scene of him talking about timing was so sad. ah. he should have been end game. grrrr.

Yes Bbibbi!!! That is the song that revived my interest in her. Basically I really liked her back in the day, but I got bored after awhile. But Bbibbi was so good and i started revisiting songs I missed or didn’t give a proper chance.

I need another song to have that moment because her last album was just meh for me. It was the type of music that I got bored in the first place. IU does what she does really well, but I know she can do more and it sounds like she’s going to bring it with her new album!

SAME! With soloist, the songs have to be extra catchy (like Hyuna). Most female soloist I want to support but just find the song choices/voices boring and uninteresting. Like Taeyeon, Ailee, Jaimie, and Chungha. I just can't get into them...

I should just play IU on Spotify today to relisten to classics and maybe hear ones I've missed.

That is what I did last year -- revisited her discography again to give songs another chance. I actually really like a lot of her slower tempo songs now (even some of the songs on her flower bookmark albums!). Definitely appreciate them more now whereas before I was indifferent.
