MLD Entertainment has called attention to a recent case of illegally manipulated photos of MOMOLAND’s Nancy being circulated on online and social networking platforms.

On January 11, the company delivered an official statement explaining the incident and announcing their plans to pursue strong legal action against the initial perpetrator as well as all those that took part in spreading the photos.

They also commented on Nancy’s current condition by saying, “Nancy is currently undergoing severe emotional turmoil.”

The entirety of MLD Entertainment’s official statement follows:



Hello. This is MLD Entertainment.

Illegally manipulated photos of Nancy have recently circulated on online and social networking platforms.

Nancy is a victim of having photos being inappropriately taken and manipulated. The person that should be protected first and foremost is Nancy. We ask for your cooperation with a heavy heart.

We will be joined by the police and judicial authorities overseas in taking strong legal action against the first person who posted the photos, as well as those who have taken part in spreading the photos. Through a legal representative, we will also pursue civil and criminal suits for compensation of damages on the basis of violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes, circulating material deemed pornographic by the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection, etc., and violating personal rights.

Nancy is currently undergoing severe emotional turmoil. We sincerely ask of you. We long for an end to malicious posts that harass our artist.

We will continue to make every effort to protect our artists from additional damage through continuous monitoring. We will also follow through with our legal actions with no leniency and without reaching a settlement.

We want to express our gratitude to fans who always love and support our artists. We will continue to do our best in ensuring our artists’ personal and given rights.

I was so shocked to learn about this when I clicked on the trending 'Nancy.' I thought it would all be about Rep. Nancy Pelosi and impeachment. I ended up reporting a bunch of tweets and accounts. Most of them have been deleted now. Feel terrible for Nancy.

When I first heard about this I read it was some staff had taken pictures of her changing at a show and posted it online...but that doesn't seem to fit "illegally manipulated photos" which to me reads more like the awful deepfake stuff that happens. Not that either one is good but someone on staff is sharing pictures of girls changing clothes...jesus fucking christ???

That's what I heard as well. Someone took a picture of Nancy changing backstage, posted it online on a discord channel and the members started to photoshop the picture.

Disgusting. But since idols are forced to change in tiny tents (sometimes even public bathrooms) and not official backstage rooms during award shows... They need better protection.

It's a good statement coming from a company that purposedly put a more sexualized image over Nancy for most of Momoland's career so far... I'm glad they're reacting to protect her, and a little (positively!) surprised. I hope there are consequences for the people involved.
