EDIT: Debut at no.1 on the Genie and Bugs charts, it also hit no.1 on the Melon Realtime chart. According to the posts I saw, this makes (G)I-DLE the first fourth generation K-Pop group in history to ever debut at the top of Melon Realtime.

i just listened to the mini and Moon and Lost are my faves. soyeon songs been sounding the same since idk when. i hope minnie and yuqi continue to write songs in their releases esp minnie i love all her songs

I mean... It's the Gidle formula. Always starts with the same person, rap in the middle and you can basically can guess who is having the certain lines.

It's not bad, I prefer this to their last summer release but.. Meh
Nothing from them is exciting me like Lion did. That song made me pumped up for everything

LION is their best song to date. The concept, the sound, the choreo, the stage outfit and even the line distribution is perfect for their group.

They're really executing the kpop formula visuals-wise to a t, the MV and the girls look gorgeous, everything's super gif-able lol. On a first view basis, I really liked some of the parts of the dance we saw. It's simple yeah, but effective.

The song's okay, nothing groundbreaking but it's easy to listen to.

But everything ended kinda abruptly to me lol.

I like listening to Yuqi, Soojin, Minnie and Miyeon's voice. Yuqi and Minnie's voice really unique and refreshing to hear in girl groups.

I noticed that some kpop groups started adding Chinese characters to the names of the songs into their Youtube video titles. Is it because of Chinese/Japanese audiences or is there some other reason?

i think its a stylistic choice and i remember thinking that bts popularized it with their the most beautiful moment in life albums back in 2015. i dont remember the use of chinese characters before that. in any case koreans also learn basic chinese characters so they can read them/its not just targeted to chinese/japanese audiences.

but regarding this title, its actually a play on words (pronunciation?), where the two characters are both pronounced as hwaa in korean and stand for fire and flower, together they mean spark. so the title is definitely for a korean audience.

It didn't grab me instantly, but I've listened to it a few times and I really like it now. I actually like it better than Lion, my fave so far. The visuals are great.

choreo is weak but I disagree that they could do better lol, they have Shuhua, Miyeon and Minnie so half the group struggles with dancing, they are better off with easy expressive choreos like this. They'd bomb hard with a Itzy type choreo.

Yea I stopped following g-idle, I’m just here to read opinions, but the performance with the maknaes at one of the end of year shows highlighted that Shuhua still struggles on stage. It didn’t help with Yuna right there outshining her. She debuted in 2018 but hasn’t improved much...

Damn I would never have tagged g-idle as boring, but this is the first song where it goes nowhere. At least their repetitive formula in the past had something interesting. Did they really peak with Lion??

Looking forward to Minnie and Yuqi being more involved in composing, and hopefully Soyeon can get the break, because it feels like she’s composing so much that she’s hit a stump

The music video is beautiful, it's obviously what they put more effort into.
The song itself is nice, it's better than their 2020 work for me. But it stays on the same note? there are no peak and valley (unlike another atmospheric song of theirs, Lion, where the chorus at least "popped" a little more against the quieter verses), and consequently the end feels abrupt and unresolved to me, since it was pretty much the same as the rest. I was really expecting the song to go into the heavier outro than groups like Black Pink so often do, but no. For once I think it would have made the song better:
I'll check the line distribution, at least Yuqi seems to have a lot of lines! I like her voice so I'm happy about it. Miyeon also sounded great on the bridge(?)

None of the songs are particularly noteworthy, Moon comes closeish and Dahlia is like a darker Izone track. And I see they used the only good part of Where is Love in the album preview lmao.
