We had a similair situation here in the Netherlands, the more lockdowns we have to go through the more people stop caring and just go about doing what they've always done. ugh

I'm really struggling :(. Not with the fact that there's a lockdown, but I'm in London and it's terrifying how many people are getting infected. And for some bizarre reason my work is insisting we're essential workers even though we are DEFINITELY not. So I'm not going in, but technically I am supposed to... I haven't left the house except to go to the pharmacy for over a week now.

what happened at the US capitol on wednesday was horrifying. so many people knew this was coming, and so many people tried to warn others that this was coming. even if it's not necessarily exactly what they want/mean to say or not, i'm tired of people/politicians saying "this isn't america!" as if we aren't a country that doesn't have a multitude of atrocities on its hands. 🙄

if you could send footage of it back to 2016, would it make a difference? would people have voted differently? would GOP lawmakers not pledge their undying loyalty to a massive pile of shit? who knows!

the contrast between this and the peaceful protests against racial injustice last summer... it's so stark. marching for equal rights makes you a ~thug~, but trying to destroy democracy and the integrity of our elections makes you ~loved and special~? it's so fucked up. i hate it. i hate it so much.

i'm not here for the celebrities going "how could this happen!?" when back in november they were telling everyone to "comfort" their family/friends that voted for the slimeball. get outta here with that nonsense.

another thing i'm already tired of is seeing people give credit to the snapping turtle and the vice-pile of shit, all because they did the bare minimum of going against the cheeto's wishes. they were loyal to him for 4 fucking years and didn't have a problem with all the other terrible shit he's said and done. he's leaving office on the 20th, so of course they're gonna pick now to finally defy him! they have nothing to lose at this point.

and shame on all of the senators who further enabled him and his followers. shame on sen. hawley especially, since he was photographed near the rioters with his fist up in solidarity. hate that asshole. :)

alright, now that that's out of the way...

i had a mostly uneventful week? i had an appointment with an NP yesterday and it went okay, i suppose. she's referred me to GI and i should be getting a call within the week to schedule something. i also had labs done there because apparently rheumatology is picky about not taking patients unless they're ANA positive or something. :/ she also ordered an MRI of my spine for a pain management referral (i forgot to tell her a place down the street already sent paperwork) and an x-ray of my right knee. she was really nice, didn't interrogate me about my medications, and actually apologized for spending so much time typing on her computer. 😅

after just about a decade of being allergic to bgs, i seem to have fallen down the svt rabbit hole and will probably spend the weekend watching their little youtube show. 🤷🏻♀️

hi omona, how are you this week?

i was hoping for an uneventful one, but i think the world had different plans. honestly what a shit show in america. it was so strange to "live" witness it all going down.

The first week without Arashi is very challenging. already miss them. Aiba collapsing and Nino and Hina already having to fill in for him... Of course i'm really glad he has such good friends looking after him and willing to step in whenever he needs them (even super last minute!) but honestly JE should have given them time off after everything that went down. Also Hina filling in for Aiba is a disaster because Yoko just got a positive test and they were all together for countdown, i'm honestly shocked to see what they are doing.
(we all know they have an outbreak going on within the agency but they keep pretending it isn't so).

I got a new bed frame yesterday, my other one was more than 25 years old. It was so stressful to me so, of course, I got migraine again last night. I'm so tired~

On a brighter note; i'm really looking forward to Saturday and Hyuna's comebacks this month! I can't wait to see them on stage again. I wonder if Yubin is going to promote her digital release? I would love that, she's so fun on stage, too.

Two days into the new semester and I'm already shaking and over stressed. This semester in addition to my own phd studies I'm also running a course with 300+ students, and my supervisor told me to sign up to attend one of the courses that he runs - they're intense literature courses that are honestly great but also super time consuming. IDK where I'll have the time and energy to get everything done, I regret everything, and I want to cry. Also the toxic culture of academia is getting to me more than ever and i just want some encouragement but that's not coming my way. And I can't fail or even deliver a subpart performance because I'm literally the only poc they have in the whole degree program (well, there are two chinese girls but they're in finance and get tokenized completely differently).

So that's my deal. I hope everyone else is doing much better.

my first work week of this year was very tiring with a lot of long zoom days due to the nature of the class i'm teaching - meanwhile i've got a lot of grading to do leading to working overtime again. i'm just very tired! this fatigue is exacerbated by the frustrating news cycle this week (covid vaccines going so slow, right wing extremism) - i've gotten a bit more pessimistic about 2021 in one week lol

anywayyy so i'm hoping taking a brisk walk tomorrow will clear my head a little bit and will rid me of my tiredness and minor headaches!

for the rest, not doing anything special. i made banana break last week which has been my breakfast this week? watching the uncanny counter which is enjoyable? i also finished a limited series on netflix about the yorkshire ripper which i enjoyed! what are you doing/watching omona?

Hello Omona!

Uneventful week for me personally. It was hard to get back to work on Monday after a week of holiday but I'll manage :)
The news circle make me mad so I'm staying a little away from everything.

BUT! I installed my new LP player and the speakers, it is amazing. I have already a nice stack of LPs since I got some for Christmas, bought two by myself already, and borrowed a bunch from my parents. I think i'll go back to the shop this weekend (my workplace gave us gift checks as Christmas presents) and see if they got anything I want.
My father told me he researched about whether there are kpop LPs, saw only BTS ("a b-something group of guys" lol) and ended up not taking his change (good because I don't plan to buy any of those anyway) - it was definitively weird for me to hear him talking about it XD

And I've been writing again - picked up a scifi idea I had maybe two years ago? and got back on it. Still mostly introduction and profiling the main characters, I have an idea of where I want my characters to go but I don't have a main plot lmao I need to come up with something!

being black in this damn country is so hard. I am so tired and so jaded and seeing the excuses that are made for the fucking white terrorists that BIPOC are never afforded is once again another cut to my spirit. I am so tired. Seeing them hang a damn noose in front the capital and trying to play it off that it’s for the politicians, seeing them given human decency when my people were beaten and traumatized in the streets when protesting for basic human rights is a slap in the face. I just am so tired mentally on top of being anxious of the second wave of COVID. This country is terrible and I know if I had the funds I would try and leave but I don’t and antiblackness and racism is global but some place has to be better than here. I am so tired you all. I don’t even know what to do at this point.

I’m doing my best in finding small joys with things but that’s a bit difficult. I’m trying though. People have no idea what being a BIPOC means. One of the most simple concepts I had to explain to a white person was the advantage of generational wealth and how lots of families never "picked" them up because they had debts they'd never accumulated themselves or simply that their livelihoods back home aren't worth anything overseas (e.g. taxi drivers being former doctors etc) Like it really does not make sense to some people that it's not motivational an older brother/sister works full time while at school because they don't have funds to fall back on and they're the first gen in their family able to retain money

Some players definitively do A LOT with their islands, it's overwhelming. For example I want to be able to go through it without struggling because there's like a 100 different butterfly models and other stuff. But terraforming is pretty fun, when I first got it I kept adding and removing levels all over the place lol.
