red velvet were all at the sm building at the same time last week (& their dancers were there too)! there was previews of everyone but irene leaving, tho fans said she was there too
I’m really curious how it’s going to go with the general public. I feel like I’m seeing mixed reactions from those sites that post netizen comments. Diehard RV fans will easily accept her back (which makes me laugh tbh) but idk about casual fans. Hell I was a pretty big fan (I didn’t follow them closely but they’re one of my most listened to Kpop groups) and I’ll admit Irene staying has made me lose some interest.
i don't think irene's ever been the gp's idol, honestly. a lot of the community posts that used to mention her would get downvoted and even with her cf deals, she's never been rv's most liked member (like seulgi and joy have had a lot more goodwill than her) & imo that's why her scandal was such a big deal. she is rv's face in a way but isn't the most likable (never got the most variety spots or has the biggest presence of them all, you don't really need a personality to be pushed for cfs, etc) but i don't think this will hurt rv as much as some ppl
even psycho was trending days after their scandal, but it really depends on their comeback (finally found that link (https://twitter.com/reve_charts/status/1321914811731628032)!) i am biased tho. and even tho irene isn't my fave member, this hasn't really affected my whole opinion of rv, either

Yea I definitely don’t have that bias so that’s why it has affected my interest in them. I just see a verbally abusive member (since what she did was not minor at all, it wasn’t just her being snooty once in awhile) 🤷 I don’t know if I’ll ever like Irene again. Plus the whole ‘but but men do so much worse and don’t get cancelled!’ doesn’t really apply to me since I already barely consume content by men since so many are capable of doing messed up stuff.
At least Irene isn’t your favorite, that’s good! For me I already had issues with Wendy so now seeing I only like 3 members of the group idk I feel like why am I supporting them when there’s other groups with less issues. Also editing in to add what I’m bringing up with Irene is more a response to how I see fans excuse her, not towards anything you said personally
yeah, i definitely get what you mean! but it always feels like the gp can (& does) forget about scandals, it just depends on the group. lbr, if there's any group that can get past this it's red velvet: A) they're an sm group (as well as the one with biggest public recognition rn) & B) there's also the narrative of wendy finally being able to comeback, so she can be pushed instead of irene

Probably to gain some interest from the general public / marketing move (& they got some nice $$$ from the individual concerts anyway - NCT, Baek, TVXQ) This might also put BigHit in a bad light considering in how many controversies they got with their joint label concert.
It's mostly complaints I've read in different articles that popped up on my feed, not exactly controversies: prices being too high, having backstage cameras set-up during the concert, bighit labels not giving off the family/friendly vibe like smtown does because the bands didn't grow/train together and are only recent business affiliates, k-armys being mad thinking bighit is using bts' name to get people to attend and that it should have been a bts-only concert (they are still supporting the boycott of the event) etc. At first bighit announced an offline event, despite the current situation, but that was scrapped and now it's only an online concert on weverse (?). :D
