- Channel A shares BTOB's Jung Ilhoon is under police investigation for purchasing and using marijuana over the past 4-5 years. Police claims that Jung Ilhoon purchased marijuana using cryptocurrency to avoid detection. He used marijuana multiple times starting from 4-5 years ago up to last year.

- It is also noted in the article that Ilhoon hair samples had traces of drugs. Prosecution got the case in July.

- CUBE Entertainment say they have no knowledge of Ilhoon's drug activities and that Ilhoon's originally planned to enlist back in March but his enlistment was delayed until May

Weed is a drug so yes, you can develop an addiction from it. In some cases people get addicted to weed and then start taking other drugs bc the green just doesn't kick anymore.

He'll most likely have to leave the group. BtoB are the 'good guys' of Kpop and they had a lot of gp goodwill that might get ruined and their fandom is predominantly Koreans who are probably not going to be okay with this.

What a stupid, stupid thing to do. I have zero ethical problems with weed itself but it's SO illegal in Korea and nobody should think they're above the law. I'll never understand why celebs who have their whole career to lose are willing to risk it all for some overpriced, terrible quality drugs. I hope it was worth it.

i feel like anyone remotely famous ALWAYS gets caught with drugs, i don't know how anyone is ballsy enough to risk it. wasn't there an actor that got busted for doing meth in australia? (i know that's because korean law applies to korean citizens and not just the territory.)

as an ifan, to me it's just weed but asian countries across the board crackdown on drug cases very harshly. it's just not worth the risk to me.

Like some other people already commented, I have nothing against weed so I’m particularly like, “meh whatever, there are worse crimes we should be fighting”... But Korea will never let it go, and it is very stupid to spend 5 years straight doing something that you know is a crime and that can kill your career in a flash. It’s pretty clear he’s only sorry he got caught, and that is not going to look good for the general public.

I don't have anything against smoking weed in particular, it's addictive but not unlike alcohol. I've myself smoked a few times and know smokers (past and current).
But he has to know how strongly outlawed it is in SK (especially since he used bitcoin to avoid detection) and how damaging it would be for his career as an idol (especially in a group with a clean image and more of a Korean fandom). So this speaks of his priorities.
AND he enlisted while being investigated? That's not going to fly well with fans and random people alike, even if it turns out that the date had nothing to do with the investigation.
I feel sorry for btob fans who expected a full line up comeback :/ I don't think it would be wise for them to keep Ilhoon in the line up, or for him to come back as an idol at the moment.

Also, I wish polices all over the world would put more effort investigating sex predators than drug users...

i don't blame idols if they smoke weed tbh, considering all the stress and physical health issues that come with the job. 😐 but smoking it while you're in the public eye in a country where it's highly illegal? he's big dumb for that. can't believe it took that long to get caught, though!

Speaking of alcoholism - it is scary how drinking is so normalized because alcohol can really damage the body over time especially depending on how much your consume

I know everything in excess is bad but alcohol is somehow (history can explain why further) downplayed in how much harm it can cause

welp. guess he thought that he wouldn't get caught. wonder if he'll throw anybody under the bus or take it on the chin. i hate when people do something that they know is illegal and then try to throw someone under the bus, especially drugs, cause so many people think they're so cool and bad for getting away with it till the cops come. i think the fact that more idols and celebs are getting caught smoking marijuana shows that Koreans attitudes are slowly changing on marijuana. I wonder when we'll start to see the tides change and more people call for its legalization. Unfortunately, he'll probably have to leave his group. All the other celebs who've gotten caught recently have gotten slaps on the wrists, so he'll probably fine unless they decide to make an example out of him or choose to stick it to him for smoking for so long. I'm a casual fan of BTOB - I like watching their funny videos on youtube and enjoyed various covers they've done along with some of their music and i'm still stunned by this. really expecting the worst from what i've heard about how seriously this is taken in SK. & I keep hearing about their upcoming 10th anniversary too. damn. it's really hard to last that long w/o any scandal or a group staying intact. I'm not even sure what to expect but I don't think I can be optimistic about this.
