Date: 2020-12-18 02:46 am (UTC)this is what happens when the music industry focused so heavily on pirating instead of creating alternative models, tech startups got the jump on them and they never recovered.

Date: 2020-12-18 02:49 am (UTC)I can expect certain artists to have a big jump in regular followers/listeners, especially for ones that do really well in Korea but either have a smaller global fanbase or very little impact outside of Korea. Like Oh My Girl’s fanbase outside Korea isn’t much but with Spotify we might see quite a jump since OMG had such a big year in Korea this year. Also IU and Twice who are very well known in Korea could have quite an increase in listeners

Date: 2020-12-18 10:32 pm (UTC)As it stands Spotify is looked at as a trendsetter so Korea being big into trends will likely give it more of a chance than they did Apple Music.
Spotify is a brand name now. Apple Music hasn’t achieved that yet.
