🍂 K-pop Albums for Autumn 🍂
2020-11-08 07:59 pmAs the season changes, so does my K-pop playlist. The weather gets a little ~breezy, the lights get a little ~twinkly. We need music for taking walks on a cloudy day and reading a long book with a cup of coffee. Some of my favorite K-pop albums were released in autumn, so I made a list of just a few of my favorites with a song recommendation from each album. (Also, I'm sorry for the northern hemisphere bias - that's where I live. I know it's spring for some of you!)
Artist: BoA
Album: Woman
Release Date: October 24, 2018
This album has amazing production! It's my favorite BoA album and I love listening to it this time of year. My recommendation from this album is Irreversible. Her voice is calm throughout the song, but you can still hear the regret in her voice. A solemn post-breakup song.
Artist: Miss A
Album: Hush
Release Date: November 6, 2013
Hush is the title track from the album, but I actually think Come Tonight is a better song. (Shout out to the Hush remix, though.) This is the opposite of Irreversible! It's sexy and flirty but a little dark, perfect for cooler weather.
Artist: NCT 127
Album: Regular-Irregular / Regulate (Repackage)
Release Date: October 12, 2018 / November 23, 2018 (Repackage)
Another solid album. There are a ton of good songs but my recommendation is Knock On. It's so cozy and cute! The harmonizing in the outro is so pretty. It makes me want to cuddle under a blanket.
Artist: Red Velvet
Album: Perfect Velvet / The Perfect Red Velvet (Repackage)
Release Date: November 17, 2017 / January 29, 2018 (Repackage)
Perfectly named album because it is perfect. My recommendation is Kingdom Come but really, listen to the whole album. Letting the drum take the lead over the rest of the instrumental makes this song sound more serious. I love songs where Red Velvet can really show off their vocals (love the strong "baby!" in the chorus).
Artist: SHINee
Album: 1 of 1 / 1 and 1 (Repackage)
Release Date: October 5, 2016 / November 15, 2016 (Repackage)
When I say this album has no skips, I'm serious! This is peak SHINee! Like Kingdom Come, Rescue relies heavily on their vocals, letting Jonghyun start off with a minimal instrumental and then building to the chorus. The a cappella ending to the final chorus just seals it.
Those are just a few suggestions! What K-pop albums do you listen to when the weather gets cooler? (Also, I purposely left out EXO's winter albums because I feel those deserve their own post!)

Date: 2020-11-09 01:34 am (UTC)I wish we had gotten another music video, since it probably would have been for Irreversible, given that it was the other song she did for her comebacks.

Date: 2020-11-09 01:25 pm (UTC)knock on is SUCH a good song, idk what its status is among fans, like is it underrated? anyways such a goddamn solid song. i always associate it with fall/winter because i only really started listening to NCT with regular/irregular. i just listened to the music, i had no idea who any of them were until covid. anyways i remember listening to that album, including knock on, very distinctly, in my shitty little apartment when i was working on my masters. i remember there being snow, though.

Date: 2020-11-09 04:09 pm (UTC)That's such a nice memory! I wasn't even there and I feel like I can see it in my head. I feel like I have way more nostalgia and memories around cooler weather (probably because it's warm 8-9 months out of the year where I live so cold weather is "rare" and special).
