Happy Friday! This week was exhausting. I am tired. My only saving grace is the fact that Christmas music is popping up everywhere now and I love me some damn Christmas songs. Every week I check the charts for this day in the past and post the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week we are going back to the 1st week of November, 2016.



#3 Taeyeon “11:11”
This was a digital single that would later be included in her “My Voice” album about 6 months later. It would debut and peak at #2, and is one of her biggest selling songs. I’ve posted the music video before, so this time let’s check out the acoustic version MV.

#2 Blackpink “Playing With Fire”
This was one of the songs from the group’s second single album, “Square Two”. I feel like I haven’t heard this in a while, I think at the time I preferred the other song on the album. But I’m liking this one now. I also feel like I haven’t seen blonde Lisa in a while either, I’m so fixated on her hair wtf idk lol. The song sold really well, and would stay in the top ten for weeks.

#1 Twice “TT”
Still one of my most favorite Twice songs. 4 years later and it still gets me hype lol. This was the follow up song to “Cheer Up” that was released earlier in the Spring. It was the lead single to their “TWICEcoaster: Lane 1” EP, and would end up being the best selling K-Pop girl group album in 2016. The Japanese language version would later become the lead single for the group’s Japanese debut in the following year. Posted the MV last time, so now let's see a live stage.

Honorable Mentions

#4 Mamamoo “Décalcomanie”
2016 was their big breakout year, and a busy year. They released both an album and an EP, with this song being the lead single for the EP “Memory”. The song would peak at #2 and is one of their biggest selling songs. I didn’t recognize the song by name, but I kind of remember once I played the MV. I only really remember the MV because the original version had to be taken down.

#9 Loco featuring Crush “Still”
This was a non-album release, and would peak at #6 on the charts. I believe this is the third time the Loco collaborated with Crush (who will be enlisting next week!). I can’t stop staring at his hair. I don’t know why I’m so focused on hair this week lol. But I don’t think I’ve ever seen him without a hat or beanie.

PWF aka Blackpink's best song. Sad that they peaked so early into their career.

Décalcomanie is Mamamoo's best song as well. Can't believe that it's already 4 years old, it could easily be a recent release.

TT is a Kpop classic now!! It’s the song that made me officially a Twice fan, LOA reeled me in as a casual fan and Cheer Up I lost interest (I like it now but it’s still my least favorite) - but TT made me realize I really like Twice and now they’re one of my favorite groups :)

Playing With Fire I like but tbh it’s not a memorable song and kinda overrated amongst former BP fans/casual BP fans. If another group put it out, no one would really give it the time of day. It’s fine enough but I can easily see why it wasn’t a mega hit like other BP songs.

MMM’s song (too lazy to copy paste, too lazy to try to spell it out) is the last song I cared about from them too. I’m guessing their brownface scandal was sometime after that?

PWF was & is BP’s best song. Plus they all looked stunning, outfits were on point, & the whole thing just worked.
TT isn’t my fav but I understand it’s significance to ONCE.
I miss Décalcomanie-esque MMM.

Whew, the top 3 are all my faves! 2016 was one hell of a year because there are so many bangers from that year alone.

11:11 is one of Taeyeon's best songs. PWF is BP's best song to date. TT is still one of TWICE's best songs. All songs are so on point! Love them!

and i have such happy memories with 11.11 , its not a happy song but its part of my first trip to korea OST lolz
