K-Pop parody puts a city on a map

Amid the waves of provincial promotions, there is one region that is garnering extra attention through its popular Youtube video. In Yeoju, Gyeonggi-do Province, city hall public servants are in charge of creating fun Youtube videos to promote the regional economy and city’s image. One of their videos, made as a fun parody of the sensational ‘Gang’ choreography, has topped one million views. The main dancer of the video and one of the public servants in his typical days, Lee Jae-hyun, has become a star of the town. Ahn Jung-hyun, the mastermind behind the creation of the videos, says he wishes to establish a strong brand of Yeoju for people who don’t know about his hometown yet. This week, we talk with public workers in Yeoju city who tell us their promotion secrets and their love of their hometown.
