This is really depressing and worrying. It's pretty obviously they are leaving a lot out and not being forthcoming about what exactly they eat in a day to avoid the fact that they are eating next to nothing. Some of them were like "I like x food" not "I eat x food in a day". And I don't buy the eating donuts or candy more than once a day. It just sounds like they are trying to be relatable.

Yikes at the two girls who only have water in the morning. The one girls even admits she gets hungry very fast. And idk I'm not going to try and be an omona doctor™, but the one that said she will sometimes only eat watermelon in the morning instead of water sounds like it could be a bad idea. I know watermelon is mostly water but I feel like it shouldn't be a substitute to actually drinking water.

idk why companies let them do these type of interviews. It just highlights that idols have issues with foods or ED's. It's obviously going to make fans worry, so why put it out there?

I got a feeling that it's accepted as the norm.

I feel like a lot of fans always show concern when idols start talking about food. Kind of like whenever Jackson talks about what he eats. Maybe it's more of a international fan thing?

Maybe? I don't know what Korean fans say, but so many idols talk about their unhealthy diets and losing weight and those games where they measure the idols waist etc etc makes me think it is all normalised and seen as part of what you have to to be an idol.

And it seems similar to what I experienced in HK, lots of pressure to be skinny, lots of media exposure about dieting, people think it's their right to comment on your weight and looks.

I think there are people who do speak out against that, but not mainstream?

Anyone living in Korea or know the culture better would know more than me.

I honestly feel that for a lot of people starving yourself to look "hot" is something admirable... So I think companies put it out there to generate buzz and to prove how "dedicated" their idols are and how far they go to meet the expectations the public has (because let's face it, if they ate healthy, a lot of people would call them disgusting things). Nobody cares about health eating disorders... It only matters to be as skinny as possible.

Yeah I guess as far as the social norm for body weight goes it is important to be skinny. But I'm more used to the concern fans show for idols eating habits and how overworked they are. I think it's just worse, for me at least, that Itzy puts this out there as they are marketed towards younger girls.

Oh, there are a lot of fans who are concerned. But there are even more people out there calling idols fat the second they gain 2-3kg between promotions.

I agree - it can affect young girls very negatively. And sadly, Itzy themselves probably believe that this is the norm. It's probably impossible to be a part of an idol agency from a very young age and have a healthy relationship with food :(

True. I'll never forget all the bs Kayla from Prisin got. Or how people always talked shit about Wendy from RV and then became worried after that variety show when she confessed she couldn't eat because her manager said so.

This is kind of what pisses me off about jyp and how people go on about how he's the superior of the big three. Look at how many of his idols suffer from the same things other agencies idols do. Overwork, ED's/bad relationship with food, complaints about not being given chances, etc. jyp only gets involved when they have to damage control when they are outed by idols about how shitty the idols get treated so jyp looks like a good boss. He may have good relationships with the idols that left but the company but he and the company still treats them like shit and they all leave. I still question why the idols that leave are on good terms with him tbh. He's practically ruined Twices health and it seems like Itzy gets the same treatment. And sadly, I never see it changing for any company.

There are a lot of idols who lost a lot of weight very fast and went from very thin to super thin just because of cruel comments :(

Jyp is great at playing the "not like other bosses" role. But it's exactly like you said... Jyp drops groups the second they start bringing less profit. It happened to pretty much everyone, they are all easily replaceable with new ones... So how am I supposed to buy the "they left but we're all super close!!" narrative...?
And I think we all remember how Jihyo was fatshamed predebut. On TV, for everyone to see. It was horrifying.

This makes me sad. I only really Stan Dreamcatcher so it’s the only idol I see what they actually eat all the time. And they eat so well that I forget it’s not the same for everyone. I wish more companies would be like happyface in that regard.

salad without any dressing??? that's torturous

this whole thing was basically them just admitting they diet hardcore and consume the cliche diet of only eating/drinking water, salad with a little bit of protein to accompany, and fruit for snack :(

they burn so many calories from practicing and performing, i really hope there are days when they are eating more
