Krystal’s exclusive contract with SM Entertainment is expiring soon.

On August 18, Ilgan Sports released a report citing an industry source who stated that f(x)’s Krystal was leaving SM Entertainment and preparing to begin a new chapter in her life in a new place.

According to the report, Krystal has already met with several well-known actor management companies, many of which have reached out to her first after hearing that she was becoming a free agent. It was said that while she has held meetings with these agencies, she has not yet discussed a detailed contract with any of them. She is reportedly looking for an agency that will both support her as an actress and go along with her plans to release music.

SM Entertainment stated, “Our exclusive contract with Krystal expires in late August. We will continue to have discussions with Krystal about renewing the contract.”

f(x)’s Amber and Luna left SM Entertainment last year following the expiration of their contracts.

Yeah, I'm confused about Victoria's status lol SM said she hasn't left right? But she and Chinese company said she's not with them anymore? Not that I care about her anymore anyway since the whole Nine-Dash Line thing lol but her status is confusing.

Security of an agency/management probably? She's still bagging drama roles and endorsements although I think she's made enough of a name for herself that she can leave confidently now.

From what I understand, Victoria's SM contract expired and she didn't renew. She's now managed fully by the studio she set up a few years ago to handle her activities in China. But the studio was set up while she was still signed under SM, so I'm thinking SM still own parts of the studio and thus consider Victoria as part of their line-up... nothing has been clarified though, it's all speculation

I’ve always wondered why she still extended her contract with SM despite their treatment of Jessica. Anyway it’s a good move for her to go to another company. I don’t think SM did as much as they should to further her acting career. While she isn’t a very good actress she should have at least some decent filmography by now.
