Flashback Friday
2020-08-07 02:40 pmFirst week of August down! Every week I check the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, we’re going back to the 1st week of August, 2009. Lots of bops this week! I loved most of the songs this week.
#3 Brown Eyed Girls “Abracadabra”
It’s that time of the year! Your yearly Flashback Friday reminder that this song happened and we were are better for it. Let’s check out a remix this time. Turn it up and get ready to throw those hips around.
#2 Mighty Mouth “Love Class”
I don’t remember this song. There are a few songs around this time from them that I get mixed up. But then again, I can only really recognize one song at first listen lol. The original song features the vocals of actress Han Ye Seul, but she didn’t appear on the music shows. Different girls did the live stages, and this one features Kara’s Nicole.
#1 Kara “Wanna”
I loved this song! This was a song off of the group’s “Revolution” album. This was the lead single, and they performed it on the music shows with “Mister” as a supporting song for the comeback stages. But “Mister” was the song that blew up big…and we all know what happened after that. This one did well too, and would become the group’s third #1 song.
Honorable Mentions
#7 2NE1 “I Don’t Care”
This was the last single off of the group’s debut EP. It was also the first song from them that I really liked. It’s probably still my fav 2NE1 song. This song would go on to win SOTY at MAMA, making them the first rookie girl group to win the award. This is the reggae remix of the song. They first performed the remix for their goodbye stage on Inkigayo, but became popular so the company released it as a digital single later in the fall. Here are the girls doing the song on tour in 2012. Bom just chillin lol.
#9 Bada featuring Untouchable “Mad”
I always forget about this song until I see her. And whenever I see her, this song is all I can think about lol. I really liked it back then, I thought she looked so great in the MV. The song is so fun too. This was the lead single off of her “See The Sea” album. Here’s her comeback stage on Music Core with a special appearance by her S.E.S bandmate, Eugene.

Date: 2020-08-07 09:50 pm (UTC)I Don't Care was another of my early loves but I don't think I loved it as much at the time as I loved 2NE1's louder tracks - I have a bigger appreciation for it nowadays!

Date: 2020-08-08 12:40 pm (UTC)Lots of really good songs! I really liked "Wanna" but have to admit I prefer "Mister" not just because of the cute dance but the intro of the song alone makes me stand up and start dancing.
