hi omona, how are you this week? did you have a good week?

we are just starting a heat wave here, apparently it's going to last at least a week, some are predicting 1.5 week. it's a little unsure yet. send help. the temperatures are going to be extreme. my headaches and migraines are going through the roof.
my room is the hottest room at home (apart from the attic perhaps) so that's unfortunate.

otherwise my week has been quite normal. i finally bought a lemon squeezer (https://media.s-bol.com/xO0MMGKvl8n/550x550.jpg) so i want to test it out a little this weekend. i don't have any other plans for this weekend. i don't want to leave my electric fan.

anyway, my other fandom has been a hot mess ever since someone decided to release a tell-all book basically, what the fuck was he thinking: nobody asked, it was a HUGE mistake. can not support him anymore mainly because he admires a pedophile and wants to work with him. huge mistake. big red flags.

Sad because I'm back in office, and here in Sweden ppl act like the whole pandemic is just an exaggerated, inconvenient flu. In a faculty meeting recently one professor literally said "we should all just get it and get over it". I hate that so much because we have like 10 times the cases our neighboring countries do, yet we're the ones that 1. expect students back in class in a few weeks, 2. already have people back to work in offices, 3. the "stay home if you can" advice from the ministry just floating around without anyone actually even considering it OR allowing others to consider it. The metros are packed, very few wear masks, and shops are crowded as ever.

ahhh sorry for the rant, I'm just really frustrated by this.

Hello Omona !!!

It's too damn hot here. I'm melting

I still haven't worked on my balcony. I came back to my flat in May with it being my second main goal (first was to make the flat better for the cat - at least this goal is done haha) but haven't worked on it.
So, no more procrastination. I invited my brother and his girlfriend to a gardening/brunch Sunday. They're both very good at gardening and enjoy doing it so I figured out it would be a fun thing to do together. We'll meet at the flower shop in the morning so they can help me pick + my brother will carry the potting soil cause that's the heavy part lol
And I'll feed them of course lol. I'm thinking scrambled eggs, my mum's zucchini pie, cheese, scones, fresh orange juice, maybe peaches? or another seasonal fruit, and a cake - but I'm not sure which one yet.
That also means I have to do a massive clean-up tomorrow. My flat is going to look great :D

Anyway, here are my weekend plans. :)

Work is going on smoothly and rather slow, almost everyone is on holidays.

We seem to finally have summer realses in Kpop? It's a little late but I guess covid delayed everything. Who's your favourite?
I've listened to April's summer single a lot, but lately Rocket Punch's entire mini album is growing on me. Juicy just keeps getting in my head despite being my "least" favourite of the tracklist lol. They're such a joy to watch on stage.
I've also been on a SNSD high since their anniversary, I'm binging their discography again. Listened to Oh! album this morning during my commute and it's such a fun, summer-compatible release.

Hi everyone, how are you doing? Hope you're safe and able to stay healthy this weekend. I don't know what this heatwave people keep talking about, here beyond the wall it's cold and sad.

Does anyone here have typical tv/movie stuff that bothers them? It annoys me so much how women always have their hair down in fight scenes, like that is NOT logical and I just imagine it sticking to the face sweats or blocking your vision. Ahhhh, haaate.


i) Someone in my family is getting married this weekend – 1) yes, a physical covid-19 wedding… Not a great start right? But also 2) it's a classic old man left equal age wife and mother of multiple kids to be with someone just a few years older than oldest kid, and at the time of the divorce the (ex)wife was really upset about that age difference, and EVERYONE in my fucking family acted like she was crazy and just complained for nothing. I thought she was right to be upset because the age difference also grossed me out but my aunts and uncles were like hey it's tRuE lOvE o.O. Anyway FFW to today, and the covid wedding is about to happen and I just find it gross. Men can't not. (I'm not going to the wedding btw, lol if it wasn't obvious.)

ii) The wealthy people in my family are such stingy assholes. There's quite a bit of difference in net worths let's say, and like clockwork the wealthy ones are the ones to proudly announce they won't contribute to someone's bday gift that we are pooling together (with voluntary contributions, so not like a fixed minimum, the ones who contributed paid around 20 euros each which makes it even uglier). Then when our relative passed away this summer, the cup ran over for me, because I was the one organizing the flowers since none of us could attend the funeral due to travel restrictions, and the motherfuckers (wealthy ones only) complained that the shipping fee bumped it up 5 euros from the original estimate. 5 euros!!!!! For a family member's funeral!!! Not fucking apple music that you have to pay every month or something. These people are millionaires (in Norway lol, but that is still a lot). Even when I was a student or unemployed it would never occur to me to raise a stink about this shit, but these retired multi-property owner millionaires are fucking complaining TO ME??? I had a go at the loudest one, but since this is the same thing every time, I'm thinking it's time the reasonable family members start excluding them from coordinating shit like this. Really unbelievable.

i've also got back into writing fanfiction, which feels a bit silly because i'm near-ish 30 and the last time i did it was over 10 years ago lol. but i'm working on chapter 3 of the longfic, and the few oneshots i posted - mostly old drabbles i edited and put back up - have had good feedback! so here's hoping i can actually finish this one. i'm not allowed to post any other longfic until i finish this one.

it's super warm here and i was supposed to hang out with my family a lot these days, but we've decided to adjust our schedule because of the heat wave, so today i'm hiding from the sun at home. i cycled almost 70 km with my mom yesterday which was so much fun, and not as hot as expected. but when i was doing yoga this morning my legs and butt were killing me lol. tomorrow we're visiting a museum :) have you been hanging out with your family lately?

also, i can't remember who recommended me this a few weeks ago (sorry!!) but the past weeks i've been watching oh my ghost and i love it a lot! the drama is really well-paced and well thought out. i love all the main actors too; i've been crushing on jo jungsuk since hospital playlist, but kim seulgi and park boyoung are both so charming too. i've also been rewatching community! such a funny, smart sitcom

all the lj tutorials are ridiculously long but this is how i do it:
+ download a m/v or clip (for clips i usually crop them on streamable (http://streamable.com) bcus it’s really low effort)
+ convert video to timeline on photoshop (i use cc2018 but this is how i did on cs5 too)
+ crop the gif to a 1:1 ratio
+ on the photoshop timeline, edit the frame delay (usually mine is somewhere btwn 0.10 seconds and 0.17!)
+ pro-tip: on lj, the icons have a 100kb limit and the most i’ve been able to use for an icon is about 12 frames
+ resize to 100px — click the image tab on ps, then go to resize image
+ if it’s short enough you can save then if you don’t want to sharpen or anything

this (https://minhyukie.tumblr.com/post/165914963641/a-giffing-tutorial-would-be-great-im-not-at-home) is the gifmaking tutorial i used to learn how to make gifs, btw, and that might be easier to understand! it's the same concept for any gif you'd make if you're making it on photoshop

and if you don’t have photoshop it’s pretty easy to make an icon on ezgif (which i’ve also done, lmao). the best way to do it there is find a gif on tumblr, etc
+ if it’s not a square image: crop first
+ if it is a square: go to resize, and put 100 in the width/height fields
+ after it’s resized, go to split & then use “edit animation”
+ pick the frames you want! tumblr gifs are generally really long so i would go for a short scene but all you have to do is “skip” the frames you don’t want and keep the ones you do
+ press the “make a gif!” button, check the file size and then you can save ur icon!

I haven’t been online as much this week and last and it’s been great. I started looking into my genealogy after doing a DNA test. It’s difficult tbh but It’s interesting I’ve come to the conclusion that my mother’s great-grandfather is the son of a mixed woman and white man, and the woman might have lied about her race since there’s a verified form(maybe a census doc) where the great-grandfather declares himself white. I’ve seen my ancestors WWII draft cards marriage licenses, it’s nice.



I’m finally ready to declare myself an ex-army, their music doesn’t do anything to me anymore and the things I liked about them just can’t exist at the position they’re currently in. Like, I didn’t and don’t want them to be underdogs forever, but it’s like you and your company are playing the same games/ doing the same things others do after years of being “different. It’s like the curtain has fallen and I can see the middle-aged man operating in the background.

Basically to sum up my feelings: I find their music boring now and the capitalistic branding that the company is blatantly pushing off-putting. Last year we had a ridiculous amount of paid bts content and even if they provided an even number of free content most of the paid content felt unnecessary and uninspired and like a heavy-handed attempt to make a quick buck off of devoted fans. I’m tired of the unneeded western collabs that do nothing in a group with 7 people and shitty line distribution and occasionally ruin the song for no true purpose. I feel like like I’m an a cult or a mega-church and I’m ready to flee and never look back and I want my concert money back.

I have been SEVERELY unmotivated at work, and slacking a ton. Living with my mom again is bizarre lol. But I won't complain since free food, free rent, and lots of time with my niece. I need to start buying furniture and unpacking all the shit I dragged here because it's a mess right now. There is no room for anything. I stopped working out a few weeks ago and I really need to get back to it. I ordered a Peloton but it won't be here for another month so I will have to just find something that doesn't bother my hand/wrist tendonitis until then.

I had to go into work yesterday for the first time since March-- sort of. We went to the owner of our company's house (my boss) and OMFG-- biggest house I've ever seen, in a super affluent area. I would be shocked if that house didn't cost at least $10M dollars lol. I work in real estate so my bosses at my level are basically always going to be extremely wealthy, our last CEO had an $8M house in SF (where you barely find houses) but SF is so limited in terms of space. This place was HUGE. My god. They had a pool, a chicken coop, a greenhouse, BEES (????????? LMAO) to harvest their own honey. I hate life. I will be busting my ass until I drop dead and I will never have that much money. Wealth is really insane.

The untamed ruined me and I've been wanting to watch it again even though it will make me cry. I didn't even want to watch it at the time I wanted to read the manhua or novel first but I watched it first and I'm so glad I did because it was so beautifully shot and I didn't feel the need to compare it to the source material. I read the novel after and it was just as entertaining. I cried in some parts and laughed in others. I read and watched it all last year and am still talking about, so yeah.

I've been looking at million dollar houses on Zillow and it's so ridiculous to me, like it's hard for me to comprehend that in 2020 there are non-royals that need a stable, a field, an outdoor resort style pool set up, a green house, wine-cellar etc all in wrapped in one. I want to buy a house in a few years and three bedrooms with a finished basement feels so large and luxurious to me as a single woman, I guess that's just my poor showing though 😂

I've been so bored with K Pop. Like it's such a repetitive genre, and everyone will do the same things that everyone else is doing in a way that just feels...blatant. And this isn't to say that this is a K op problem, as...well K pop is a relatively new genere and quite frankly how K pop is today is about five-six years old at best. They learned it from somewhere (the heffas in the west). But still, it's the blatant repackaging with little creativity and boundaries being pushed. There hasn't been a K pop video that has left me gagging. It's been like this for a couple of years, when all my fave girl groups decided they were going to bow out, and I haven't really stanned any of these new girls (I like WJSN and Oh My Girl consistently and that's it). But even still, I am just...bored and uninspired by the content. I think I got genuinely excited to see Hyolyn releasing a new ep. That was the first time in K pop since...I don't know how long. But even with her, I stan her potential but her content hasn't always been enough to justify. My non K pop faves include: Beyonce, Janet, Mariah Carey, JoJo and Dawn Richard. With all of them, they strive for greatness among themselves. Like Janet and Beyonce are STANDARDS for performance (The way they can just saunter on stage and carry!), Dawn is so experimental and her music has aged so well (and also she doesn't get credit for being at the forefront of the whole alt-R&B wave that took over the genre). JoJo and Mariah are less big showy performers (although Mariah loves extravagance) but have such an acute awareness of their musicality and voice that they have such...definitive styles. Mariah has been so involved in her writing, that she literally has a very...specific style (at least in my opinion). Even for other singers that I love, like you just get a sense of who and what they are.

Then Hyolyn sits there and I am like...YOU GOT IT...but you not always GIVING it. Like I don't want to talk down on idols, but I definitely think that for many, the ability to sort of develop your voice is restrained and ability to grow is almost impossible (Especially for female idols). It doesn't help that she is only now releasing her second ep. The way K pop albums can be released and none of the songs be leaving me exillerated<<<

And I think this is indicative of K Pop overall. You can literally build a bear K pop idols, and find success. Nobody takes the genre seriously except over invested fans, which leads to very insular perceptions and very little need to grow like that. Nobody is giving me gags, and trying anything new. I liked WJSN's Butterfly, but I realized I liked it after not watching that let down of a video. And the thing is, even if that wasn't their standard fare...it IS standard in k pop. I am complaining, and honestly the only reason I am still here is because of the constant release schedule and I do like some of the groups and songs.
