Recently, a rumor began to recirculate on online communities. The rumor began several years ago and claims that a girl group member smoked at a hotel in Thailand, causing the fire alarm to go off and making all of the hotel’s guests evacuate the building. Also brought up was a 2016 broadcast of E Channel’s talk show “Brave Journalists” (literal title), in which a reporter talked about the fire alarm incident and described the girl group member as someone who has many male fans and has a slender body and pure image. The reporter claimed that this individual cursed frequently and smoked cigarettes in her private life.

Some people began to groundlessly speculate that the girl group member in question was Seolhyun, prompting FNC Entertainment to deny the rumors on July 22.

The agency said, “We clearly state that the individual in the rumor is not Seolhyun. We are gathering data regarding the groundless rumors and the spread of false facts online in order to take legal action. It is very disappointing that this is being reported on as if it’s true, and we will take strong legal action without any leniency as [Seolhyun’s] has been severely defamed due to this. We will actively take legal measures regarding any other defamatory acts that occur online regarding our artists.”

SF9 has bullying rumours too? Jeez, wouldn't that mean that basically all FNC groups have officially had major scandals now? I'm trying to recall if FT Island had bullying rumours, but I feel like so far its only been CN Blue, AOA and now SF9.

A member (Dawon) has rumours but not about in-group bullying, the supposed victim was from elementary school? I hear the claims don't seem legit but I haven't read much about it. I'm just side-eyeing FNC for being so quick to tackle the rumours while it took them so long to release a statement about the Jimin/Mina situation (and a bad one too, not even a word of apology to Mina).

FTI don't have any rumours about group discord and (not that you asked) neither do N.flying, so in-group bullying issues are limited to just AOA and CNB atm. Tthe fact that both Jimin and LJH are still in FNC really makes me uneasy :s

I don't know much about N.Flying aside from that member that got kicked out because of the incident with a fan? FTI not having bullying rumours doesn't surprise me but these days, you never know what people are hiding. AOA and CNB are proof of that, plus the fact that Jimin and LJH are still in FNC makes me wonder what use they have to the company still when their reputations are literally down the drain. Why bother keeping them?

FT Island is pretty dead, tho. They had that big scandal last year with JungHoon and his involvement in the Burning Sun scandal, then Seunhhyun quit to do acting (confused about this since he barely have any credits to his name compared to other idols so Im guessing there's a bigger secret reason), Minhwan's busy with his 3 kids.

You see, I had no idea Seunghyun even quit - much less to do acting. Has he acted before? The only members I know who have acted in FTI are Hongki. I know pretty much everyone in CNBlue has acted though. Well, I guess FTI really are dead at this point.

Everyone in FTI's acted but only Hongki's gotten noteworthy gigs recently. FNC was always unwilling to actually let the members do non-band activities sadly. Also (a copy/paste answer to accioanime) Seunghyun and the members pretty much said that he also left because he was depressed and anxious in FTI, probably because of CJH's departure putting a lot of burden on him as the only guitarist.

FTI's been dead for ages really, the dedicated fandom and Hongki's frequent bustling in variety/acting is what's kept them going (plus they're still one of FNC's main moneymakers). I'd hate to lose their music so I'm grateful for that bare minimum, not gonna lie.

(in response to the other comment bc I feel bad for spamming this post) I believe LJH was always a favourite of FNC, I think they went out of their way to shield him during the trading scandal while throwing Yonghwa under the bus even though both were involved. People think he either has connections or has dirt against FNC. Dunno about Jimin.

I noticed that FTI haven't had a hit in ages. It was sad to see how their popularity declined. I always preferred their music to CNB but of course the latter became way more popular. At this point, with CJH and Seunghyun gone, they may as well disband. It wouldn't be impossible for them to get new members but I feel like they'd lose the motivation to continue at this point after all that has happened. I just wish they could have gone out on a high note instead of barely a peep.
