I honestly do not understand why they gave this song to a barely legal drinking aged girl?? (She's 2001, but I dunno if Korean drinking laws apply to Korean age so she's either barely legal or not legal for another year!) I am not surprised and once again disappointed in marketing her to a much older male audience. I didn't enjoy the sound of 'Birthday' but I LOVED the concept, living life how she wants to! Get this 'faded/drunk every night' bullshit out of here let her be a normal teen growing into adulthood???!

Whatever. It's fine for Somi. We know she's not the greatest singer and this doesn't really demand any vocal extremes from her. Though I don't know if she pulls off the YGE-apathetic-dreary-eyed-i-dont-care aesthetic. A lot of these just look like practice takes.

(Overall though, it's a forgettable song. She could benefit from Chungha's team.)

Song itself is kinda generic. Not liking the lyrics too much considering her age. but for once I'm actually ok with all the english in the song because she is fluent and it's proper english with proper pronunciation (not some shut you tongue nonsense). But the end was definitely abrupt and could have used a nice fade out. also, definitely could hear Jennie and Rose at some parts. I guess this is the problem with having girls so close in age active at the same time.

Aesthetically, I don't like the "don't care/indifferent/bored/slightly drunk" look of YG girl idols.but she is really pretty and this highlights how gorgeous she is. The sequin dress looks SO itchy.

Okay so I don't hate this, but I didn't immediately like it either. Birthday was catchier imo and suited her irl personality a bit better.

Lyrics wise
I think the lyrics are a bit all over the place, and well about a girl getting drunk, pining over someone whilst complaining and wanting them to confess to her or whatever.. it just gives me the impression that this person really doesn't have any feelings for her anyways and I feel like saying 'give up girl.. don't think they were ever into you.'

i feel like her vocal sounded quite weak during the verses so when the chorus came on i was surprised by how her voice changed. the instrupental part at the end sounded really good but at the same time it kind of felt out of place cause the song just misses the power and energy for it to make sense. i'm looking forward to her perfoming it cause that when i usually change my mind about liking songs.

The comments pointing out her singing is what has bothered me the most about this song. I think it is a good song, and when Somi sings "like Jennie on the chorus, or Ros[insert accent mark]e" the song is perfect. And Somi sounds her best in those moments (less annoying on the chorus, and her tone sounds beautiful at the Ros[accent mark]e parts. But when the song started I was ready to turn it off. Like Miss Mama pease pick a voice (preferably the other two) and give us that.

Other than that, the only other thing I would note is the lack of build up to the chorus, it just sort of happens. Contemporary pop song structures are so predictable but they work.
