The zombie action film "Peninsula" topped 1 million admissions in South Korea on Saturday, the fourth day of its run, the film's distributor said.

Released Wednesday, the sequel to the 2016 megahit zombie blockbuster "Train to Busan" attracted 1.01 million viewers as of 8:10 a.m., according to Next Entertainment World Co., or NEW.

Its pace matched that of the 2014 drama "Ode to My Father," the fourth-most watched film at the South Korean box office with a total of 14.3 million moviegoers.

On the opening day, it drew 350,000 viewers to set the highest first-day score in 2020.

Meanwhile, it is also on a roll outside Korea, topping box offices in Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia where "Peninsula" hit local screens this week.

Directed by Yeon Sang-ho and starring Gang Dong-won and Lee Jung-hyun, "Peninsula" tells a tale of survivors on the zombie-infested Korean Peninsula four years after the events in "Train to Busan."

The new movie was officially invited to this year's Cannes Film Festival and pre-sold to over 180 nations and territories, including Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, Britain, and France.

When's the last time you were at the movies, Omona?

i saw the first two films of the dark knight trilogy! i've already seen them, obviously, but its been ages and i only ever saw the second one in theatres when it came out! i couldn't see the third because it played at 9pm and i can't stay up that late lol, plus i rewatched it in february last year.

the theatres here are just playing stuff that came out before quarantine (birds of prey, bloodshot, the invisible man) and some random classics like pulp fiction, jaws, and batman.

oh now that you mentioned it, my last movie at the theater was bird of prey, i think. and they're still closed now, which i think is for the best.

omg sounds fuuun! i have the dark night on dvd but i’ve only seen the beginning of batman begins on tv :x how do they all compare 4 u?

idk when they’re opening up theaters here (it’s supposed to be during phase 4) but i wish rescreenings were a more common practice, tbh. there’s so many movies i’d rather (re)watch in theaters

batman begins is not too bad/pretty decent, tdk is definitely objectively the best. i'm generally pretty critical of superhero movies and it's one of my faves and i've seen maaaaaany. the themes are much more competently articulated in tdk than any of the other films and it has some good performances, including heath ledger, obviously. it's not perfect but it's pretty good. i think batman can be an interesting character psychologically and his story has some interesting themes but they're rarely dealt with well, so i'm looking forward to the 2021 batman.
i barely remember the 3rd one and it's been less than a year and a half since i last saw that - that 's generally what happens to me with not so good films, of which the third batman is one. clunky plot, poor acting, poor characterization, no sophistication. it's definitely the worst of the three. only worth watching to laugh at.
but cillian murphy is bae and i'm so happy he's in all three of nolan's batman films.

i wish rescreenings were more common, too. i've seen a lot of classics in theatre but could always use more!! our local theatres are pretty good for playing lots of old hitchcock films for some reason lol.

i saw onward on its opening day (march 6th) and, pretty sure, i saw the turning that monday. my sister works @ a theater so i made so much use of her weekly free tickets

i really miss the whole theater experience, esp watching bad (or good, i'm not picky!) horror movies in theaters
