It’s Friday! I finally made some space in my full freezer so I bought some ice cream this morning and I’m so happy. Every week I go through the charts for this day in the past and share the top three songs. Then I pick out two more from the top ten as honorable mentions. This week, let’s see what we were listening to in the 3rd week of July, 2011. Top tier songs and groups this week.



#3 2NE1 “I Am The Best”
I remember watching this stage as if it were yesterday! Oh the days when I would stay up all night for the awards shows! I can’t believe this was 9 years ago. This was the group’s performance at the 2011 MAMA, when the song would go on to win Song Of The Year. Iconic performance and and an iconic song. They look so great up there on stage. This isn’t my fav from them, but I’ll sing along every time.

#2 f(x) “Hot Summer”
This was the lead single from the group’s repackage album of the same name. This was a hit for the group, and would peak at #2. This is still their biggest selling song. I remember this song a little (really just the chorus), but I think I remember Victoria’s styling more wtf. I totally remember her in this outfit lol. Speaking of Victoria, this was during the Khuntoria era on WGM with someone else on the charts this week.

#1 2PM “Hands Up”
The group were in Japan for most of 2011, but spent a month in Korea with promotions for this song. This was a big hit for the group, and it is still their biggest selling song by far. I wasn’t a fan of this song. My biggest memory of it is the part in the choreography where they take a shot lol. Here’s the remix MV of the song. I think this video would be better if they weren’t alone everywhere they went. Like, yeah you look so rich and cool but you are alone in an empty club lol.

Honorable Mentions

#6 Rainbow “Sweet Dream”
This was the single off of the girls’ repackaged album of the same name. So many album repackages this summer lol! The song was pretty successful for them, and was the follow up to “To Me” just two months earlier. I always forget this song until I hear it lol. Then I remember it and even the choreo too. Hopeful for some cute reunion pics this fall when Jisook gets married!

#10 Hyuna “Bubble Pop”
Such a fun summer song! This is the single off of Hyuna’s first album. It would peak at #4, and is her biggest selling solo song. The music video for this song is also the first time a female K-Pop MV would reach 100 million views. It is still so cute and I’m going to still do the dance to it every time and everywhere I hear it.

I know Hot Summer was f(x)'s first legit hit but I never cared that much for the song, they looked great in that era though :D It's a fun song to groove to though. I still wonder what would have happened if Soshi actually released the song.

Put your hands up! Put your hands up! \o/ Whew, as much as I loved angsty!2PM back in the day...party!2PM really brought the jams. Hands Up and Go Crazy are such bops.

Sweet Dream is one of my fave Rainbow tracks.

And yes, queen Hyuna slaying with Bubble Pop! *O*

OP, looking back I can't believe this all happened in the same summer! We were so blessed. I had to do a lot of classwork that summer, so I feel like I missed a lot of it 😥

I don't listen to IATB a lot but I love the energy and I'll always love women being confident.

I liked Hot Summer more than Pinocchio as a single, so I'm glad this was the repackage. I loved the video, too.

I like the East4A remix of Hands Up a lot. JYPE please bring back remixes 😢

To Me > Sweet Dream was such a great time for Rainbow.

Bubble Pop isn't my favorite Hyuna song but I'm glad it was popular.

Bubble Pop and Hot Summer are such great songs! Hands Up was probably the first 2pm song that I've really listened to, and I loved how Hands Up and Bubble Pop came to the same country to film (#proudofit).

I hated I am the Best when it came out, but have now come to tolerate it because it's such a hype song when with friends. but I still won't listen it on my own alone.

one thing for sure, this week's FF is a 2nd Gen throwback!
