WOODZ (Uniq/X1 Cho Seungyoun) on Yoo Hee Yeol Sketchbooks

Cho Seung Youn (WOODZ) showcased his vocals and opened up about his journey as a musician on KBS 2TV’s “Yoo Hee Yeol’s Sketchbook”!

He opened his appearance with a performance of Lee Seung Chul’s “There’s No One Like Them” (literal title). When asked why he chose that song, Cho Seung Youn reminisced about his father who passed away when he was 21 [Korean age reckoning] and said, “It’s a song my father used to enjoy. I believed it was the right song to sing on my stage of dreams.”

Cho Seung Youn also explained why he performs under the name WOODZ as he said, “I have the mindset of ‘Deep roots, light branches.’ So I try to have a rooted, solid attitude about things and try to keep my thoughts light.”

He also shared that when he was active in the group UNIQ, his stage name had been Luizy. Cho Seung Youn said, “In Brazil, they would call people who had small statures Luizinho, so that’s what I was called. I went there in elementary school with the dream of playing soccer, but I set that aside and pursued music.” When asked why he made that decision, he said, “I took an objective look at myself, and I didn’t think I was good enough to go professional. In elementary school, my other dream had been music, and people say your second dream will usually work out better. I’m happy to have become a singer.”

Cho Seung Youn also wowed Yoo Hee Yeol with his high notes as he sang Kim Hyun Jung’s “Bruise” (literal title) in its original key, and also performed “Love Me Harder,” the title track of his first mini album. Check it out below:

I finished the Untamed and now I wholly stan Wang Yibo, i’m a 🤡 for stanning two Uniq members in 2020 bc we arent getting shit from them lol.
