From unsearchable name, to stupid meaning, we've seen a lot.
Sadly, I don't think we have enough for a full on contest à la "sexiest female idol"; but we do have enough for a good laugh and an interesting discussion.

Here's  a few things we could talk about:

• "Google search"  - How am I supposed to get invested in a group I can't even find?


• "Google translate" - When the meaning in another language is bad/gross/funny


• "Fake deep" - Labels always came up with those crazy explanation and sometimes they should just leave a bit of mystery.  (ex: Mamamoo - "It signifies the sound that babies make. 'MAMA' means mother. So it means that we want to approach our listeners organically and instinctively with our music." WHO COMES UP WITH THAT SHIT?) 


• "You sound ridiculous you should sue" - The name is just plain bad

• Bonus:  "What did you call me?" - Bad/stupid/crazy fandom name

Not a very original one but: Back in the stoneage when I first discovered them, I really didn't understand how you were supposed to pronounce 2ne1, even though once you know it's very simple in both English and Korean.

The real meaning of Army is also one of the stupidest and dumbest things I ever heard. It would've been better if they pretended it was just an actual "army" to protect the group or wtv.

As OP and gathyou can probably also confirm, monbebe in addition to being not great should be mesbebes?

Also, not group/artist or fandom, but the name of many kpop producers are........ BAD, and the names are in English. There's too many to count. Same for the majority of SMTM contestants *shiver*.

Yes if you want to be grammatically correct, 'mon' becomes 'mes' in French. I've already talked about that lmao. It just looks so awkward to me. I feel like it's also perfectly harmless (and pointless) to discuss the grammar of ridiculous kpop fandom names so of course I love to do it XD
'Monbebe' as a fandom name sounds extra cheesy to me but I guess it's part of the appeal!

I loveeeee this duo but for the longest time google didn’t acknowledge what 1set was, now at least Kpop comes up but its still hard to find stuff about them. And who r u????? Omg horrible name. Googling that is a nightmare. She should just go by her normal name Dayoung :/

(Also I strongly recommend 1set if you like ballads and sentimental or chill songs (aka not most of omona lmao), 1set has two talented vocalists whose vocals work well together)

I love BTS but I loathe the ARMY name and ARMY bomb. They have this whole army vocabulary and it's just so tone deaf and plain stupid. Maybe they feel some pride towards the Korean army (lol) but it's so negative to me.
And it really doesn't suit the group anymore as they quickly abandoned the ridiculous bad boys image Big Hit wanted them to be.

There are probably quite a few google search ones, come to think of it. Anything that's just a word. Seventeen, Nature, Twice, April etc. I guess this is why they make nonsensical shit like AB6IX and UP10TION. It's either a captcha phrase or a kpop group, lol.

I also hate names where they just spell normal words with one letter different or with weird styling. Like Nu'est-- I have never called them Newest a day in my life. They are Noo Est to me. Or things like CRAVITY, CIX. I will just read it as whatever word it looks like. Gravity and Six lol. Don't get me started on (g) idle

i'm also not a fan of group names involving words like 'child' or 'teen'. so super junior, teen top, golden child, the boyz. i'm so used to the first two i barely blink anymore, but it is a bit funny to me still.

for the fandom name, every time i see reveluv at first i read 'vulva'. i am so sorry.

but to end up on a positive note, A+ was always one of my favourite fandom names because of the story behind it. very cute.

so many kpop band names are so ungoogleable if you think about it! eg my fave gg f(x) - i still think it's a cute name but for search engines it's not the smartest name when you start out. this post made me wonder what the name meant again, i knew the f stood for flower but from wiki:

- I think we can all agree that Dia's fandom name plural form, aka AIDs, is the worst

4minute was so confusing to me when i first discovered them! wasn't the idea behind their name that it would take 4 minutes (the length of their songs) to fall in love with them or something?

gfriend's name in korean is definitely ungoogleable in korean but i also feel like this is one of the few group names that i definitely absolutely prefer in english because calling a girl group 'girlfriend' feels uncomfortable to me, especially because some of the members were so young when they debuted.

also stray kids feels a bit insensitive to me

Its his real name but it literally means school year in Korean.So you have to search his last name with it (Ju Haknyeon). He's the only The Boyz member who uses his full name professionally and the way they make it one word for all their promo stuff looks so off
