Sadly I think we're due for phases of lockdowns and phase of ~normalcy~ until there's enough vaccinated people. Which is going to take a long time :( The number of people I see in the subway pretending to wear a mask, but having it under their noses...

did you all have a good week? it's been raining a lot here, i love it: more please! no heat, no sunshine. it's so comfortable to me. i know we'll get heat sooner rather than later, but for now this is such a blessing.

one of my best friends is getting a new pup today, a german shepherd (+a tiny bit rottweiler), i'm so excited for them. can't wait for all the pictures and updates. all my friends are getting babies and puppies and i'm- 🙃

i want to do some baking today. it's mainly Beni's "fault" for talking about making a lemon banana cake and now i want cake, too.

i ordered a lot of seeds (all kinds: pumpkin, sesame, chia, flax, sunflower, hemp etc.) because i've been actively trying to get more (healthy) fats in
i'm really bad at eating fats but i love seeds and i can eat them well, this week i've been making some big batches of chocolate oatmeal with a lot of seeds in it so i get both a good amount and a good variety of seeds (because they all have their omegas and health benefits) and thats been really nice and helpful.
what kinds of seeds (or nuts) do you like best and how do you usually eat them?

i'm in the process of making fermented tofu so i can tofu feta. yesterday it finally started bubbling so the fermentation process has started and i'm so excited. this is my first time fermenting something. i've been making a lot of pickled vegetables this year but no fermenting yet i hope it turns out alright. i put in double the amount of salt by accident so it'll be salty as hell (yikes).

I rmb i post about my shitty moment @ work. So I thought I need to share you this: I finally got employed! Starting this monday. Its a field i have 0 knowledge, not related to my degree. But its a job, and I start to think I might not qualified enough to continue to pursue the job related to my degree. So my plan is to just take any job and hopefully save for a master degree/short course.

In a more lighter note, I think I need new music since my taste in pop/western music basically stop once I know kpop. What are you enjoying lately, omona?

Picnic day was really, really fun and we all had a good time :)

I couldn't take Monday off so sadly, I'm going to have a short weekend. BUT it's the weekend I see my family in the countryside, and I really can't wait <3 It's seriously always one of my favourite moments of the year, just being able to chill all together on a very big garden (social distancing will be easy at least lol) and catch up.
I wonder if we'll talk about one of my uncles. He was estranged from the family (by his own choice) and was an asshole to several people in the family, so a conflicted figure among us. But when my aunt died earlier this year, the siblings all tried to contact him and ended up getting hold of his wife. Who was really sad because she didn't have our numbers and thus wasn't able to tell us that my uncle actually comitted suicide last year :((( (btw no one blames her for not having been able to find us given what happened to her) Apparently my uncle had a stroke and some lasting side effects, and as someone really independant, smart and proud, it was too much to handle. But we only have limited knowledge so we don't know if anything else was happening in his life (my mum also have some tentative mental health diagnosis but she's not a psychologist so I'm taking all of it cautiously). My mum knew about it when she picked me up from Paris in the middle of lockdown for my mental health, but waited to see my brother and I together (aka THREE MONTHS AFTER) to tell her that not only she lost one of her sisters, but also one of her brothers :( It made me sad that she kept it for herself for so long, and that my uncle (even if I've seen him maybe three times in my adult life?) was driven to this point, in parts because I know the kind of despair that can lead to this decision.
My mum was really close to this brother at some point, and was his link between him and the rest of the family when he got angry at everyone. She didn't really worry about not having news from him anymore (she guessed he cut her off like the rest of the family) so I wonder how guilty she feels right now :(
My mum then joked that the life expectancy among her siblings wasn't really high :( From nine siblings, one died of a car accident, one of suicide, and two of cancer. They all died too early and it's unfair but there's no reason to joke that all the siblings are doomed :( broke my heart.
Idk sorry for the long comment, I haven't talked about it at all since it happened.

The phone meeting with my ex-boss earlier this week was a total shitshow lmao. She kept contradicting herself and got angry at some point. She just can't come up with a compromise since she's certain that she's in the right and everybody else in the wrong. It was just a meeting between us local public agencies ; there weren't enough time to talk with the firm actually working on the construction site. So we're planning a meeting in two weeks, IN PERSON, to discuss with the firm. Who is also very agree at my ex-boss. I'll be there too! Her ennemies (the firm + the local agency I know work for) + her ex-employee (me!) all together in the same room lmao
Tbh hearing her on the phone getting angry, even if the anger was directed towards my current boss, made me really anxious and nearly threw off the rest of the week. It hasn't been long enough.

My governement made face masks mandatory in public transportation last week and it was about damn time. We have few cases but it's better to be safe than sorry. You can't always avoid crowd in public transportation, especially during peak hours. This makes everything so much better/safer, even if it's a bit unconvenient because of the heat. But i would rather sweat than catch the virus.

we get 2000 new covid-19 cases today and the local government is gonna start opening the cinema at the end of the month. dumb move but our government really don't give a shit. they're more focused on business side which ofc means money. lucky that my company and my bosses still let the employees to work from home.

i wanted to buy a set of makeup (blush on and lipstick) last week cause the packaging is cute but i ended up buying baked goods lol my love for food trumps everything else. the baked goods i ordered is so, so goooooood omg and they're pretty cheap (pastries and stuff usually runs on the higher price where i live cause they mostly use imported ingredients). the downside is that i have to pay a lot for delivery cause i live far from the central area but it's worth it tho!

Some of my friends are fully back to "normal" now, they hug people (I had to tell them no and that I'm uncomfortable with it, and feel like this shouldn't need explaining) and going to the gym, parties etc. Sometimes it feels like we're living in different worlds from some people.

I'm like you, my love of food trumps all, so if I have to spend all my money on that and not other stuff, that's how it will be, and usually worth it too lol, and your baked goods sound just like it!

my grandmother's health has suddenly very quickly deteriorated, so earlier this week i traveled to the hospital with my dad to see her for the last time while she is still conscious and and not on morphine. it was nice to see her but also strange to not being allowed to come too close (though i sneaked in a kiss)

this weekend i'm meeting a friend who lives on the other side of the country who's moving abroad! haven't seen her in so long!

I live on a farm and recently bought a second horse so this weekend I’ll be pretty busy looking after him. It’s so interesting seeing cortège core become a thing and I wonder if it’s mostly the aesthetics that draw people or if they’re interested in living a daily routine of cottage or farm life, haha. I personally don’t mind either way. What do you guys think?

Hi everyone! I hope everyone’s week went well? This was my first week back to work with the library open to the public. It’s super limited but the patrons are dealing with it well. I’m an extrovert but I was so used to only seeing my family for four months that it’s draining to talk to actual people! I’m hoping this gets a little bit easier. I know my already kind of anxious habits of clean kidneys have gone over 9000 lol I can’t tell you all how many times I wash my hands a day.

Also has anyone been having any mask related breakouts? I swear this heat and wearing a mask all day made my skin sensitive and susceptible to zits. It’s annoying.

Anyway my weekend is filled with working and hopefully I can binge unsolved mysteries, do a face mask, and have a drink tonight. Have a good weekend everyone!

HI Omona! these weeks are speeding by it seems now that things have somewhat adjusted to the new normal.

Last week 4 of my friends got married and I ended up being the photographer for one by default (we live together). I've never felt more single lol but whatever I guess. My new websites finally up so I can start pivoting my company to covid-safe work. Haven't been able to shoot since March because people aren't taking this stuff seriously enough.

The new SF9 is great and I like the new RV a lot too. For some reason I didn't know SF9 were releasing a japanese version of am i the only one? or I did but blocked it out of my mind. anyway its as good as the original.

I've been doing alright during Quarantine but I hit a low point on my birthday, which was 4th of July. I'm an international student studying in the States and the loneliness (spell check corrected to kinkiness, what a ride that would've been LOLOL) hit hard - I don't like making a big deal out of my birthday because it's historically been pretty disappointing but I was all alone in my apt for the whole day. Normally, I try to celebrate with family dinner and cake but they're away in another country. I didn't even see my roommate and all of the people I have seen during quarantine were celebrating actual 4th of July. I dunno. I even paid attention to social media birthday wishes. I cried about 5 times that day from the loneliness (one was as I was shoving instant noodles into my face haha!). I just got into that mindset of being able to disappear and having no one care after 2ish days. And then I felt guilty about having so much self-centered angst over it. It seems like such a shallow concern since it objectively wasnt that bad and there are so many real problems right now with people legit fighting for their and their loved ones' lives, including a lot of the comments on this post.

Finished my first week back from furlough and it was trash lol. I missed my coworkers tho!

Basically all I did This week was try to kick someone off my AC island bc his house is ugly lol and now I’m lowkey high key becoming a victon stan. I burn through boy groups so quickly like I get hyper fixated then forget about them lol but I enjoy howling and mayday!!

Tonight I might try and get into haikyuu? My friends daughter called her at work freaking out that she finished the show and doesn’t know what to do with herself now 🤣🤣 I guess if it’s that good I’ll watch it too! I did tell her to watch yuri on ice so I hope she likes it!
