It’s a good pre release and whets appetite for a hopefully banging single? I like that there was various dance styles incorporated here and she’s not really doing waacking, which is a plus since it feels fresh.

I liked it as well! Though I still prefer Stay Tonight. The dancing was so fun! I wish her songs would be tailored to be more in her range tho, since she can sound really strain while hitting the notes, like ie when she sings 'repeat'.

Not a fan of the torero/matador imagery though, but that's just me.

I'm digging this! It's a lot to take it (the build up to the first chorus is long lmao) but it's upbeat and catchy. A welcome addition to my summer playlist
I just wish they would change the keys of her songs... she always sings so uncomfortably high

MV has some beautiful shots but as always, I'm waiting for a dance performance lmao. There seems to be some salsa and tango inspired moves, I want to see the whole choreo!

god you finally made me realize what bothers me about her singing (aside from her overall technique which i find very unpleasant)

she sings every song the same way. i don't know if saying she doesn't emote enough would be correct in this case, but i could listen to 5 of her songs one after another and i'd feel like i was listening to the same one over and over again.

I've noticed this too and I couldn't quite pinpoint it. Something about Play reminded me of Gotta Go and I think you're right she sings every song the same way. I don't know the musical terms, but her vocal runs or flow sound the same to me across multiple songs. There's also some very muffled about her voice sometimes, a lack of clarity or nasality and I can't figure out what it is. It is less present in her lower notes but she sings high so much, especially when she screams the titular lines in Play and Stay Tonight.

I find this with a lot of solo female singers which is frustrating to me. I think that's why I enjoy girl groups more than girl solos. Because with a group you get more range, different ones, etc. But solos...it's just that one.

i watched the mv as soon as i woke up and i honestly...already forgot what the song sounds like lmao. i'll have to give it a few more listens but right now i still vastly prefer stay tonight. i knew it was gonna be a summery song like love u so i was bracing myself for something generic.

the mv is sooo gorgeous though (minus the bullfighting scenes which didn't have to be included at all, like girl we could've figured out what concept you were going for without them!) especially the flower scenes. i don't think i'm gonna gif the mv this time just because i'm going to end up making like 100 gifs lol

I always really want to like Chungha's songs but the song has to be enough to overcome the fact that I don't enjoy her voice. The first one to ever really get me was Gotta Go (which I am obsessed with) and I also liked Snapping. This one is really fun so I think I'll be listening to it quite a bit too! When is her proper official promo single happening? So many pre-release songs seems so strange in kpop.
