Leader Yoon Doonjoon of the 6 member idol group BEAST, uploaded new photos of himself through his Minihompy.
On the 20th (yesterday) at 1:27AM on his Minihompy, he revealed a few photos that he took of actual locations from MBC 'Sunday Sunday Night' of the segment 'Danbi'. Whenever the Danbi crew visited places that needed an outstretched hand like Africa, Cambodia, etc., they put each of the children's images into the camera, valued water, and while taking the mental note of saving [the water], they received the compliments of the netizens like "As warm as their appearances are, their hearts are warm too."
Next, one of the photos that were updated was a *down hairstyle that was different than usual, receiving positive compliments from fans. The fans who saw this new hairstyle showed tremendous reactions by saying, "No matter what he does, it's stylish", "He's a male God", "It's different." etc.
In the mean time, Yoon Doojoon is currently appearing as a guest star in MBC 'Sunday Sunday Night' of the segment 'Danbi', and near the end of February to the beginning of March, the group BEAST in which he is part of will speed up their album preparations with a scheduled comeback.

Then again, I don't understand what Sunday Sunday Night is all about, or why DooJoon is in Danbi because of them.

I think he commented on how he wants to bring attention to what life is like for the people in those countries. He took some photos of the kids in the Zambian village they visited and his caption was something like "I hope the day will come when this child will be able to see this photo (I took of him)."
The meaning I got from this was that Doojoon hoped that that child would be able to access the same sort of things that most of us take for granted, like the internet, electricity, etc.

Date: 2010-02-22 02:22 am (UTC)There are about 5-6 MCs and they sometimes bring along special guests (in the case of the episode that Doojoon is filming right now, it's Nickhun and some actress). The show basically helps people out. There have been some Korea-focused episodes where they've helped people that are ill or down on their luck. In one episode, they helped a woman that was dying accomplish her wish of renewing her vows by organizing a second wedding for her. In another, they helped throw a birthday party for a little girl that (I think) had some sort of stomach ailment (possibly cancer?).
They've also gone out of the country. So far, they've visited Zambia, Cambodia, Kenya, and currently Haiti and the Philippines to help in impoverished areas. And it's not the usual publicity-driven "Oh look, I'm taking photos with poor people. I'm such a good person" pity visits. The cast and crew of DANBI help the people in these areas and elevate their standard of living by instituting actual CHANGE in their villages. From the episodes I've seen, they've built wells in Zambia and Cambodia to give the villagers they visited a clean source of drinking water because up until that point, their main source of water had been polluted.
The easy thing to do would be to just pay people to build the wells for them, but the MCs actually spend time in these villages. They eat, talk, and touch the villagers. They actually help dig the wells! What I love about Doojoon is that he seems unpretentious and really down to earth. He's really warm and friendly, and to me, it doesn't look like he's pretending for the sake of the camera. I've seen other shows like this, but the celebs usually keep their distance from the locals, or they have these looks on their faces that betray how they really feel about being there. From everything I've seen, Doojoon has been a freaking sweetheart! He never hesitates to hug, touch, or hold hands with the people he meets on this show.
I like all the guys in BEAST, but I'll be damned if Doojoon isn't fast becoming my favorite! Btw, the DANBI episodes are up on YouTube, but they are un-subbed. They're still easy to follow though. The ones where they go out of Korea are easier to understand because they sometimes have to communicate in English. Seriously, check this show out if you have the time. Sorry for the essay!
